Immobiliser

Can anybody help The keys on my 1995 Renault Laguna wont operate the remote control central locking any more but more importantly the immobiliser is supposed to be de-activated at the same time so the car is stuck on the drive, every thing else seems ok and i have changed the batteries in the remotes. They didnt fail at the same time (about 6 weeks apart) this leads me to believe its the keys and not the car.
any advice greatly received

G'day TED. Admittedly not exactly the info you request, but check out the thread in this AF forum:

Reprogramming keyless entry remote

Good luck!

Hi Ted

How did you get on with your immobiliser problem, I assume you've sorted it by now.

Reason I ask is I drive a 1996 Laguna 2.0S Rti and the central locking doesn't work off the key. The key batteries are ok and the central locking works from the console button. What was the problem with yours? did you need to replace anything in the car? Im guessing that I'd be best to get a key (the top half with the remote at least) and a new receiver (part by the interior light) from a salvage yard but nobody seems willing to let me 'try before I buy'.

Any help would be appreciated.

Paul

Guess what, same problem.Mines just quit for the third time, and I am getting well miffed with the main dealer. £200 for a new key blip. I dont think so. Does any one know how to disable the immoboliser? Else its going to the scrap yard !

Thanks

I have a Megane with exact same problem. I had to have it towed originally by a Renault dealer who couldn't fix the problem. They gave me a key code to put in through the central locking button in the car. This overrides the immobiliser but can take up to 10 mins to put in. Great fun at a busy petrol station. I have written to the Renault Distributors here twice complaining but to no avail...
If anybody has had any comeback from Renault, I'd be very interested.

I have been informed that as my megane is a P reg (1997), it does not have a code that can be entered by the central locking button. Its too old! This was a modification in later models. I guess because its a known issue.

Tikki, or someone else who knows how to do this... I have exactly the same problem with my Renault and my helpful dealer insists I get it towed. Exactly what is this famous procedure for starting the car by pressing the "central locking" function. I have a scrap of paper (yes, I am a mug that paid out for a key THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED 2 years ago - AND I HAVE NO INTENTION OF BEING CONNED AGAIN) it has some mystery codes on it e.g. "no commande (six digit decimal)" and I am wondering if this number combined with that procedure can get my car going interim while I a) find out how to bypass the Renault junk and get a real immobiliser from Halfords b) refer Renault to the Office of Fair Trading!

:)

I have never had this problem, instead once I had my key's battery completely run out.

I opened the car with the key (not with the remote control), and turned on normally, without any problem.

hi

i rue the day i bought a laguna.... but don't get me started.

as far as i know (and by looking round the forum it would seem so) that this is a VERY common problem, but about the ONLY thing that didn't go wrong on mine. what's happened is the remote and the car are out of sync. it happened to my brothers laguna (96 p plate 1.8 rt) and cost £80 for the dealer to resync the key fob and the car.

i'm sure there was a tech note about it on the renault internal network, but i might be wrong and i wouldn't trust a renault stealer to even both looking.

Please can someone advise me as to where i can obtain the code for my 1996 megane immobiliser without it costing me a fortune.
I have read these forums and i am having the same problems starting my car.
I have been in touch with renault and they said that it would cost me a minimum payment of £73 + vat and that i would have to take the car to them for them to enter the code. Of which the car is not working so how am i to get it to them in the first place.
I just want to get the code but do not know where to get it from.
Please can some one help me???
