Hi, I have a 1998 Chevy venture. The problem I am having is... the power sliding door will close by itself, but will not open by itself. I have checked the fuse, and it seems fine. When I use the overhead button to close the door I can hear clicking, but it will not open. Could there be a problem with cable or something?? I have cleaned the sensors on the inside of the door. still the same problem. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Lets start with the simple stuff first. In the overhead console there is a "lock"out switch for the power door. Is this switch in the "off" position?

I had the same problem a few months ago with my 2000 Venture power sliding door. It closed just fine, but the unlock mechanism inside the door didn't always unlock, so the door will "click" when you try to open it, but will not budge because it was still locked. Check to see if the tab button goes all the way up on the door panel when you press the unlock button on your keyfob. If it doesn't, try to press/wiggle it upward until it unlocks, then the door should open. Any of this work for you?

I tried as you described, but still nothing. Could it be my key fob that is causing the problem?? I just got this van 2 weeks ago and the guy said there was a recall on that, but I looked up the recall and it is just for the door to close all the way.. When i press the button on the overhead console to open the door it just clicks.. but when I press the button on my key fob to open the door it dosent do anything. Dosent even close the door. but when I press the button above to close it, it closes fine. I am just not sure what else to do?? any help would be appreciated.

Does your fob lock and unlock the doors OK? If not, the fob is either bad or the battery is dead or weak. Have you checked / replaced the fob battery? As for the clicking sound at the door, make sure that the door is completely unlocked (tab all the way UP) on the door before you try to open it with the console switch.

It locks, and unlocks fine, if I change the battery, does It have to be reprogrammed?? I will try to unlock the door again. thanks for your help.. I really appreciate it. :)

Yes, I think it has to be reprogrammed if you replace the battery, so you may not want to do that unless you know how. The manual should tell you. Otherwise, I'm not sure why your door doesn't work, unless the connections between the door and the frame are bad.
