I have never cared much for my 93 S-10 Blazer's air cleaner as it just seems poorly designed. Would I be better off replacing with an aftermarket kit of sorts, and any recomendations? Or, am I just better off using stock housing with perhaps a better filter? 4.3 "W"

go to ebay do a search for s10 air intake.........
find one for the year and engine.........
they range from around 40$ 250$(for a real K&N)
which i would not buy...........
i got one from chrome intakes(ebay) 65$ with a generic filter.....
went to autozone...got a k&n filter for 45$ cause i dont trust off brand filters......so for a $110 i got a slammin chrome aluminum intake that looks awsome.....for way less...
make shure you speciffy the year........!! when u look and order......!!!!
you dont want to get sent the wrong intake!!! real hastle........

btw...they sound great...floored........and do give better throttle responce..........plus look sweet........

good luck

Yes but the K&N kits are made of plastic.Plastic doesn't conduct heat like metal. So keep that in mind.

yea but do you really think the plastic will last aslong,,,,,,or really disapate the heat better than an aluminum? plus it can get pretty hot even though its plastic......not like it stays cold..or anything.......
id like to get temp readings....on both to see just how much cooler the plastic stays...and if it really is a factor in regards to hp.......with proff.....
all i know....ill take a hp or 2 less to have the look and longevity of chromed aluminum any day.....over a slightly..cooler plastic part.
plus i would think the xtra cooler air getting threw a performance filter will compinsate for any added heat....generated...by the aluminum...
also plastic retains...heat longer than aluminum.(i could b wrong)
if budget and looks are a factor....i think go aluminum....
if you got $250 for a real k&n ..go for it.......im shure theve done lots of research and testing........in there products....i just dont think the price is justified.........for a plastic tube.....
filter $45.......plastic tube.......$200........come on :nono:

With the amount of air going through either a metal or plastic pipe, the temperature difference will be within 1-2 degrees.

Either one will work fine and last the vehicle's lifetime.

Money is a concern for me on this vehicle right now, so I am leaning towards the metal one. The one Blazer LT recommended looks promising and I hope to buy one in the next 1-2 weeks. Looks like these folks sell them on a regular basis so should have them when money is available. Anything has got to be better the P.O.S. stock one that my truck has, and I need help for sure with MPG and power. Thanks for all the input!
