I am NOT going to Iraq!!!!Killswitch 02-01-2005, 02:24 PM So I'm sitting at home with a group of friends playing a good round of Halo 2 when the phone rings. My mom answers it, and it's a guy from the U.S. Marines asking about me. To this, my mom replied "HE IS NOT INTERESTED!!!" and hung up on him. I sure as hell am not going to war. If Bush reinstates the draft, I'm moving to fucking Canada. I am not going over to Iraq just to get shot or blown up. It's just not right. We aren't doing shit over there except getting killed, and I for one am NOT gonna join them. blindside.AMG 02-01-2005, 02:52 PM How did they get your number in the first place? RickwithaTbird 02-01-2005, 04:03 PM "so im playing a violent war game, blowing shit up and going nuts with space aged weapons... well, the US Marines called... Im not interested in that shit" lol.. just pointing out the Irony. I agree. My friend joined the marines, and he didnt know until last month if he was going to Iraq or not. Im not a religious guy, but I prayed that he wouldnt be sent there. Luckily he got stationed to Okinawa Japan for 2 years. Thats pretty cool actually. But I personally would not join the marines either. Every time you watch CNN, all they talk about is... 15 marines were killed today in Iraq... 12 marines dead... 23 marines dead.. 8 marines killed... That is so fucked up. Limited5.9Cherokee 02-01-2005, 05:28 PM What a fucking pussy. You dont give a fuck who those soldiers are over there as long as its not you. If you wont pack your shit and be gone by sunrise if they reinstate the draft (which they wont) then you dont need to be in this country in the first place. :2cents: crayzayjay 02-01-2005, 05:36 PM What a fucking pussy. He never said he doesn't give a fuck about the soldiers that are there. He said he doesn't want to go there himself. But I would like to know how they got your number in the first place. Military recruiters don't make blind sales calls, you had to have signed something or filled out a form somewhere. I think its bullshit that we are still in Iraq but i do support the troops who risk their life everyday while i sit on my ass. RickwithaTbird 02-01-2005, 08:58 PM I dont think we should be there. All we are doing is losing family members. I was scared shitless when my friend told me he might get shipped to Iraq. Do I want to join the Marines just so I can get there on the first day and have some suicide bomber blow up my mess hall and kill me. Hell no. Think about both sides of the story. There are people out there that want to go and fight, and they can do that if they want, but some people dont wanna end up being another statistic on CNN. Colov99 02-01-2005, 09:32 PM My buddy is on his way to Iraq, right now hes training in Mississippi. As much as he wants to be in the army, he realy is not looking forward to being in the box. And while I will never be in the armed forces (I cant kill anything), I still will support the troops and Im working on sending stuff to his whole company to lift their morals. -Jayson- 02-01-2005, 10:57 PM you guys have no clue. Your all brain washed by the media. yes our soldiers are getting killed, over 1400 right now. But what you dont know, is that many of the soldiers over think what they are doing is the right thing. I have friends over their right now, i get to talk to them every now and then. These are foot soliders and MPS, the guys getting killed. They are proud of what they are doing, im proud of what they are doing. What saddam was doing was no different that Hitler and the holocaust, just not on such a grand scale. If oppose the war, then you dont support the troops. Cause the majority of the troops support the war. I dont know if you realize how badly those people have been treated and need our help. If you read some of the stories about their voting the other day, you would get chills down your back. People walking to voting booths to vote and they hear and see nearby voting booths get blown up. The Iraqis march in protest against the terrorist. Elected officials EXPECT to get assasignated. IN the US if it rains we tons of people wont go to vote, in Iraq you need to blow them up to stop them from voting. Also dont forget, the soldiers over their signed up for the marines. They fully understood this wasnt going to be ajob where they sat on their ass's all day and did nothing. They understand the dangers involved with the armed forces and excepted those dangers. And a draft, gimmie a break, stop reading National Inquirer. Even if their was a draft, if my country called on me, id proudly serve. Im not a scared little pussy who is gonna run away to canada when things get bad. KustmAce 02-01-2005, 11:10 PM I get marines calls too...a guy who graduated last year gave them our football roster. Anyway, who cares if he doesnt want to go? I dont want to go. Ill support the grunts already there, but I dont think we have any business being their, and Im not going to blindly support a cause just because W tells me to. ec437 02-01-2005, 11:15 PM So I'm sitting at home with a group of friends playing a good round of Halo 2 when the phone rings. Bush is the one who doesn't want to reinstate the draft. If you wont pack your shit and be gone by sunrise if they reinstate the draft (which they wont) then you dont need to be in this country in the first place. :2cents: 1. I don't think he ever said or implied "I don't give a fuck who those soldiers over there are, as long as they aren't me." So don't assume. When you assume it makes you look like an idiot, especially when you're wrong. 2. What's wrong with not wanting to join the military? Am I some piece of shit because I'd much rather stay in college and earn the degree I'm selling my soul for loans to get? I've got plenty of things on my plate right now, and I'd much rather deal with that than be forced to drop my life completely. I have a girlfriend that I love, a life I am finally proud of and hopefully a career in the next few years. If the men and women over there now wish to join of their own free will, then more power to them. But, I don't feel that I should be forced to do something such as that. SniperX13 02-02-2005, 03:18 AM To me, its one thing to be not interest in joining up, or going over seas. I will admit, even though I do think all males in the United Stated, the moment they hit 18 and graduate High School, should serve a mandatory 2 year stint in any branch of the armed services, I also recognize the fact that the military life and way of living is its own mentality, and therefor, not for everyone. To Me, its takes a special type of person, right now, to strand up, and sign up. and before those of you say it, I served 4 years, and I just sent in copies of my DD214 and re-enlistment papers to the Army Reserves. If you choose not to serve, thats your right. Hundreds of Thousands of Soldiers died so you can have that right to not join. I hold no animosity towards you for that. The only thing I did have objection to, is your statement, of Running to Canada if a draft is re-enacted, and your called up. You live in a country that gives you the right to speak your mind, and allows you to have the means to live what ever life you pretty much choose too...... but when this same said country, needs your help fighting its cause (even though its obviously not yours) you suddenly turn your nose up at it, give it the finger, and run away. I don't know if you are able to understand where I am coming from, or if I was able to make any sense, its really late, I am on a bunch of cold medicene, but it bothers me, when people enjoy all the freedoms that this great sociaty affords you, but when asked to step up, and help, they quickly turn their backs and run. I know plenty of people here in town, that are not from here, and have tried to join the military to fight for the USA, because this country allows them so much more than there homeland ever would, or could. they see the value this country has to offer, why can't you? BP2K2Max 02-02-2005, 08:35 AM people have the right to disagree with the actions or policies of their government/leader. if we didn't, we'd all be Nazi's. YogsVR4 02-02-2005, 09:00 AM Its fine that you don't want to go to Iraq. However, I hope you are not one of the clueless fucking morons out there who think that there is going to be a draft. Idiots like that rarely achieve higher status then burger flipper. HogieGT-R 02-02-2005, 09:41 AM i used to get calls from the Marines and the Army all the time, and i've got friends and family members who are in the military....yeah i'm proud of them, but do i want to join? no. i support the troops, but when somebody i knew died in Najif, his father was so struck with grief that he jumped inside the military van and set it on fire. i knew him and his younger brother. i don't want to be in there, because if i died, i know that my parents would do the same thing, and i wouldn't want them to bury me, especially after my grandmother had just died a couple of months ago. oh and the reason as to how they get your numbers? when you sign up for FAFSA (otherwide known as Financial Aid) for college, one of the steps that you have to do is register. it's mandatory or else. also the military came around to give the ASVAB test. this test, they say is to tell you what job you'd be the best in (career exploration), but after you take ti, they send your information to the military, resulting in countless calls from the military wanting you to join. Limited5.9Cherokee 02-02-2005, 10:00 AM Why arent you over then then tough guy? QUOTE] [QUOTE=Toksin]So when are you signing up then? Or are you too much of a pussy? Because the Marine Corp. (or any branch) will not take anyone with certain medical histories. I enlisted but was declined because i had broken my neck twice and have a plastic insert and also had reconstructive surgery on my foot on several occassions. But what i have done is volunteered at various summer camps over the last few years to counsel children whose parents are overseas. I also am pursuing law enforcement. If there was a way i could go overseas you would not see my ass Stateside for a while. through certain connections i am able to go through the Army MP training school this summer. Killswitch 02-02-2005, 03:09 PM [QUOTE=Limited5.9Cherokee]What a fucking pussy. You dont give a fuck who those soldiers are over there as long as its not you. If you wont pack your shit and be gone by sunrise if they reinstate the draft (which they wont) then you dont need to be in this country in the first place.QUOTE] Now I never said I didn't give a fuck about them. All I'm saying is we have no purpose in Iraq. I know they aren't gonna reinstate the draft, but you never know. This is a free country, so I have the right to choose whether or not I go to Iraq. If you think I'm such a "fucking pussy", why don't you go to Iraq and see how long it takes you to get killed. I'd much rather be here. PBking82 02-02-2005, 06:08 PM SniperX13- I totaly understand where you're coming from. Generally it's the people who imigrated to the United States who understand the true freedoms that we have in this country. Those of us born here generally tend to think differantly when it comes to war. Myself will never join the armed forces due to I have way too much of a problem with authority, and tend to be too much of a free thinker. I don't like being told what to do without reason as to why i'm doing what i'm doing. With Iraq the thing is that we as American's are not being threatened, are freedom's are not being threatened. We are more threatened now then when Saddam was in power. We as American's tend to think of ourselves as "right" but, when do we have the right to go and police the world without the approval of the UN? who determines what was going on in Iraq was worse than Iran, NK, China, Southern Africa, shit the entire world? G W Bush? Then we attempt to promote democracy in its "purist" form. Shit we can't even get it right in this country half the time, now we're telling others how to govern properly. The sad thing is that it's the guys who proboly work the hardest on this whole thing that get crapped on the worst. The average joe, GI gets shot/blown up just for doing his/her job that they're getting paid to do. I realised this when I cooked hot-dogs for most of the 10th Mountain Devision this last June. Majority of the guys didn't even wanna talk about the wars going on, just wanted to eat and have a good time with their families. I salute every person who is currently in harms way, I do because they are doing their jobs which is more than I can say for most people stateside right now. Am I sorry for them? No not really because they all signed up, knowing what they were getting into. Unfourtnatley there seems to be no end in sight. With permant bases going up all across the country, we seem to be in it for the long haul. The problem with this is that the troops are gonna need to be coming from somewhere to support this conflict/others allready happening/and others bound to happen. This country may need a draft, for everyone to open their eyes and realize what the hell is going on. Then it just wouldn't be a friend of your's or you'r friend's kid, it would be YOU are YOUR kid. If it came to a draft and it was either go fight or leave the country, I would leave the country. Who wants to be a resident or representative of a nation who uses their power as a superpower to police the world, create lifestyles for those who don't want them, and force democracy on those who don't want it. Anyone have any clue what I'm talking about? Peace- taranaki 02-02-2005, 07:11 PM "so im playing a violent war game, blowing shit up and going nuts with space aged weapons... well, the US Marines called... Episode 2...So I'm sitting at home minding my own business, and these two Jehovah's Witnesses knock on my door..My mom's like 'go away'. What the fuck, man, I don't wanna be a joey! They can't make me! I aint going out selling no shit door-to-door! I'm not gonna wear no suit an' ride a bicycle! Hell ! If they try to force me, I'm becomin' a Bhuddist! Skateforfood 02-02-2005, 07:46 PM The Army,Navy,Marines gets your names from Contests,School Applications, anything that u give your phone number on. Also I know im gonna get flammed but watch Fharenhite 911 it shows how they lie and trick kids to get in the navy army and marines. One of them told that Michael Jordan was in the the navy and the navy helped him get were he is. PBking82 02-02-2005, 08:19 PM Don't believe everything you see on TV. Opposition was just as able to make FarenHYPE 9/11 and sell it. M.M. showed facts that the general media chose no to show. Farenheight 9/11 is basically the opposite of the point of Bowling For Columbine. Through BFC he was trying to say that the media twists and contorts things that will give them ratings. In F9/11 he created his own media and showed his opinion about GW Bush. Good movie though recomend it to all. Peace- Muscletang 02-02-2005, 09:48 PM 1. the draft isn't coming back at this moment, maybe in 5-10 years at the very least 2. leave, go to Canada, we don't want you here if that's what you plan to do 3. I'm not for the draft but if it comes back and it looks like I'm going to get recruited I'm not going to the army or marines but probably the air force where I can still serve but be in less danger Andydg 02-02-2005, 10:20 PM you guys have no clue. I have 8 or 9 friends over there and if I could be at their side helping them out I'd be there in an instant. publicenemy137 02-02-2005, 11:34 PM Yea a military recruiter called and talked to me a month ago. He was extremly nice and cordial. He tried to bs with me at first, asking what my goals were, what I want to do in life, etc... I just bsed him back, I didn't want to be rude to someone who works in our military. Then he tried to recruit me saying I'd have experience in IT, blah blah blah. Then I just politely told him I already have connections and I'm going to go my own way, he accepted it and said good-bye. There's no way in hell I'd want to go to Iraq either. I also have many friends who have gone and the conditions are horrifying. There are times when you can't leave the bunkers b/c there are gunshots whizzing by everywhere. You never know when a crazed militant will pop out and kill you. As bad as the media makes Saddam seems, there are worse dictators out there. Like Kim Jong Ill, or what about the Rwanda massacre. If we take out Saddam b/c we want democracy there, why would we just aim to go to Iraq and not the world? And I don't want to get any deeper, it will just be a long drawn out argument. I support the troops and definetly grateful for their dedication in Iraq, but I don't think our gov't should have went there in the first place. CamaroSSBoy346 02-03-2005, 07:15 PM If I ever had to go to war, I would like to, but I think my medical conditions would prevent me. Steel 02-03-2005, 08:31 PM By the by, you can't hide in Canada, or England. They will not tolerate draft dodgers. hopeless4life 02-03-2005, 09:10 PM I'm from Canada and I believe that no matter where your troops are they should be supported whether the war is justified or not, Those are sons, daughters, mothers and fathers over there, they need to know that there is a country waiting to embrace them when they get home. I don't support the war only because I don't believe that people should die when other methods of peace could be practised and when the original reasons for the war become vaguer with every passing day. I read someone say that the people of Iraq are being freed and are finally happy, but why Iraq, there are dozens of other countries that are suffering just as much. My question is how could the resources and manpower spent on freeing Iraq, could help the countries with people starving every day. I'm sorry to say it as much as I hope and pray for the safety of every American soldier in Iraq, What is the one true reason they are over there, risking their lives? If someone can answer that then please tell me. kmdracer 02-04-2005, 12:40 AM In a word, Oil (and the contro thereof) Coming from a military family, I don't like what Killswitch said, but, as many forget, he has the right to say it, just as you have the right to agree or disagree. I think SniperX13 said it best goat_launcher 02-04-2005, 09:18 AM I think my ADHD would keep me out of military service (or at least the part where I get to shoot a gun). If I went into service, I'd want to be in the Coast Guard so I could bitch slap retarded illegally attepting to enter the country. Oh yeah, and a big middle finger to those douchebags who think killswitch is being "unpatriotic" for not wanting to goto Iraq. Killswitch 02-04-2005, 06:43 PM Oh yeah, and a big middle finger to those douchebags who think killswitch is being "unpatriotic" for not wanting to goto Iraq. Thanks, man. I salute you. I'm not unpatriotic, just careful. swsidlo 02-08-2005, 02:19 PM I believe that every ione should do a tour of duty in one of the branches of the service - kinda like Israel where everybody - man or woman does 2 years and out! I believe iot is a great character builder and teaches oneself responsiblities. I know that the gentleman at the beginning of this thread said he didn't want to go to Iraq but you know what - take a look around - we have more freedom than any other country in the world and there is price to pay for that freedom. And before anybody paints me as some kind of service dodger let me tell you I did 2 tours of duty in the heart of Vietnam and also my son-in-law is just returning from beinga machine gunner on a humvee in the heart of Bagdad! hopeless4life 02-08-2005, 10:07 PM F*%K that, one of the great things about having freedom is having the right to choose what you want to do with your life. I will NEVER join the military unless my country is in dire need. Why because i don't believe everything has to be dealt with in a militaristic fashion. In the ideal world there would be no need to kill a single human being because of a disagreement, or (dare I say it)natural resources. Yes I know this isn't an ideal world but why do we have to fight and kill each other to reach that ideal world, what we first have to do is step back and look in the mirror at how we have gotten this freedom we have and how can it be learned to others. Having a big military is like a domino effect, You got this many troops well we'll hire this many, you got this bomb we'll make a bigger one. Why can't it be hey we are doin alright why don't we start aiding the starving children in africa. Frankly I don't care about what i'm gonna say. In Iraq Americans are dying for a reason yet untold, billions is being spent on this, all the while thousands of children die every day in poverty stricken countries. How is this fair? If America "frees" Iraq and doesn't help those who need it more. Oh yes Oil isn't an issue in those countries. And yes as above I am Canadian and if you use that against me you are merely avoiding the issue at hand. I like most other Canadians feel sick everytime i read the newspaper and see stories about Americans getting killed, its a crying shame. I'll say it once and i'll say it again F*#k Bush tacoma man. 02-10-2005, 06:37 PM after i turned 18, they were after me hot and heavy. i did sign up just like everyone else has to for the selective service. but they were more geared toward putting me through college. my brother didnt sign up for it and a sargent paid him a visit! said he would face jail time if he didnt. he signed up real quick. but thats only if there is a draft. kornflakes28546 02-10-2005, 07:12 PM i dont know about you guys, but i'm all for the "Walk softly and carry a big stick" policy. Iraq and vietnam would never have happened. and like everyone else on the boards, we all support the troops. RickwithaTbird 02-10-2005, 09:04 PM Dude, I don't want to stray off the topic, but I guess Im going to. The war isn't about oil, get a clue. The iraqi's are getting killed by terrorist groups that are trying to control the whole country. Our troops are there for a reason. And they all signed up voluntarily. They are there to free the people who are having their lives controlled by terrorists. Bush is probably the best thing that could have happened to America. F*&% John Kerry, F&*% Al Gore. Thank God for the Florida re count. If the people of Iraq don't get control back, then the terrorists will re gain control, and plan another wave of terroristic attacks against America. If we pull the troops out now, everything we have fought for over there, will be lost. I agree with the war, but it makes me sick that we are losing so many Americans, but trust me, many times more Iraqis have died. Iraqi soldiers, and innocent iraqi citizens. If your country was controlled by terrorists, would you feel the same? "Dont send your troops to help us, because some of them may die fighting for our peace. Send your help to other countries, and let the terrorists take over our country, because this is not your war." I don't think you would say that. I think John Kerry is a jackass, he has swayed in his opinions back and forth like a damn see saw. I don't care if people think Bush is an idiot, because at least we don't have Kerry in office, proving that he isn't. That would have been the worst possible thing that could have happened on Earth, is for John Kerry to be elected. He would have ruined everything, with his indecisiveness. Sadly we live in a world where peace will not solve everything. Peace will get you rolled over by terrorists. And if killswitch doesn't want to go to Iraq, then more power to him. Because there are plenty of people who are so selfless that they would risk their own life for a different country's freedom, and if you are going to condemn George Bush for supporting that notion, then F*&% you right back. Those people deserve the chance for a free country just like ours, and if it takes the loss of some brave American soldiers who know the risks when they sign up, then God Bless them. Don't you dare talk shit about their cause for the war. They believe in something enough to risk their life over it. And until you understand why those people are willing to do that, then you should just STFU. ASTAutoSales 02-11-2005, 09:20 AM How bout dem Norf Kreans??? TexasF355F1 02-11-2005, 10:39 AM I got home late last night and was on IM. All of the sudden my friend who left for Iraq either late December or early January IM"d me. It was so awesome to hear from him. He's in Tikrit and said he's really enjoying it over there. Gonna be sending him some dip and playboys and other crap he asked for. Just made me happy to hear that he was doing good. Jimmiz71 02-11-2005, 10:40 AM I think RickwithaTbird said it best, When I graduated from high school I was all set to join the Marines with a MP position set as my goal, My father begged me not to finish the recruiting process.. He served in the Army and did 2 tours in Vietnam. At the time when I was ready to go he was battling cancer. He had a heartfelt conversation explaining that he served his time so that his children could have a better life. For the first time in my life I saw a softer side of my father. This is a guy who I've never seen cry and puts up a tough as nails Front.. I knew at that time it wasn't right for me to leave, my Family needed me more.. I strongly support our troops, I have many friends who are overseas and if I felt my country desperately needed me, I would be signing up tomorrow! :2cents: -Jimmy Killswitch 02-11-2005, 04:19 PM How bout dem Norf Kreans??? Dude, that has nothing to do with this subject. Learn to spell right. eversio11 02-11-2005, 04:33 PM My cousin is going over there this month, not too sure when. What will be his primary job? Convoy protection. Thats where everyone is dying, getting blown up by suicide bombers in convoys and whatnot. Despite the shit job hes getting, hes still proud to be going over. My point? Some people want to fight, and some don't. My cousin does, I don't. Doesn't matter what you choose. RSX-S777 02-12-2005, 07:29 AM Not fighting when it goes against every moral fiber in your body is far more noble than fighting because some douchebag tells you you aren't a man if you don't. If you truly believe in the cause, go fight- it's your right. I sincerely wish you the best. As for me, well- George W can kiss my ass. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
