"Dying turkey" sound in 01' Limited engineHeyjohnny_park 02-01-2005, 12:39 PM I have a 91' Limited w/ 133k, auto, 4x4. Problem is there is a sound coming from the left rear side of my engine (passenger side) that sounds like a turkey is being killed. No joke. Reading the other posts listed really doesn’t cover something like this. Anyone have an idea of what this could be? Bad vacuum leak? The sound is so random, happens right after starting, sometimes when slowing down, sometimes just random while driving. Please help identify my mystery sound. gtmud 02-01-2005, 02:30 PM Exhaust maybe, Your PS, is this a swapped column, left to right side? Any how, There is a tube that is plastic that runs from theleft side to the right, along the fire wall, routing behind the valvecover. It could be cracked, or melted causing the "dying turkey" sound. (Good description) That is really the only thing that is int he area that would remotly make that sound. Arctic4lo 02-02-2005, 04:38 AM Maybe you could elaborate a bit more. Ive never heard a turkey die. Is it a screech, a grind, a ticking, a popping, a whistleing, what? Actually the only turkey(ies?) ive ever seen were on my plate. :eek7: Heyjohnny_park 02-02-2005, 11:17 AM To elaborate on the "dying turkey" sound, if you can imaging what a turkey's "gobble, gobble" sounds like, but a standard pitch and prolonged for 4-15 seconds. Since the sound was comming from my engine, and no turkeys should be in there, I figured it was a dying turkey. I can't say it sounds like a pop, a grind, or a tick. I really think it sounds like a turkey in horrible pain - a dying turkey. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
