Transmission Hard shift Chevy Transsport Bj99

Hello to all Ami Friends,- I will try one more
I have also probs with my transmission. (100000 miles)

When I drive for about 100 miles or less and then I stop on sign or gas station and want to go on, the transmission switch with a hard shift. (at that time the transmission is getting warm)- also very often when I go up to a hill ( mountains)

To solve the Problem:
I stop for few minutes (turn off the engine and wait for about 10 minutes) it works fine - no hard shift.
When its cold (transmission) I never have this problem. I also changed the oil filter and the tr. oil.
When the problem is comming up, sometime I can hear a noise like a pump which is working hard (on the left side= driverside, out of the engine or transmission). And sometimes the sign "Check Engine" shines.

The mechanic man said, thats could be a thermical problem. or
the best way should be to refit the transmission.(because there is not enough pressure in the transmissin)-

whats your opinion ?- I read someting about the 1,2 soleniod, that should be changed.

thanks in advance

Hi Andi,

I have the exact same problems with my transmission on my 2001 Trans Sport that you described in your thread of 02-01-2005.
Can you please tell how you finally solved the problem?

Best regards,

Anders (Sweden)

Hi

I have exact the same problem with my 2000 Trans Sport: When the car is cold everything's ok, but when warm it shifts very hard and a sometime can hear a noise. When i stop for 10 minutes, it works just for some time again.
I tried to change the transmission oil (Dexron III) and the filter, but it didn't help.
Any solution meanwhile?

Thanks, Ronald.

All of you guys need to have the codes checked to see if the Pressure Control Solenoid is malfunctioning setting a code...

If the PCS malfunctions and you keep driving, its possible that you could damage the trans...

I am not 100% but If I remember correctly installing a shift kit may bypass the PCS... You would have a firmer and quicker shift..

You guys need a Trans expert to answer the questions you have tho.... And a Trans expert I am not..

Just want to tell you that my error unfortunately were originating from too long time for the gears to shift which were caused by too big distances in the transmisson and to fix it a complete rebuild of the transmission had to be done.
The hard shifting were caused by the transmission control unit (computer) that indicated too slow gear shifting and increased the pump pressure in the transmission (the sound).
I replaced the transmission with a refurbished one.
Not a very cheap solution though...but probably the one only solution.

I'd like to know where you got this info... A long shift, even with friction material wear would be more cause by low line pressure, higher line pressure would make it shift quicker... Sounds to me like you had a Bad Pressure Control Solenoid and the line pressure was not being controlled... This will in effect do damage to the transmission.. The Transmission does not have its own computer, its controlled by the Powertrain Control Module which controls the engine as well..

In any event your trans wore out, The 4T65-E had some known issues and in some cases the input shaft splines would sheer, and in other the torque converter would go bad..

Glad you were able to get it fixed, and hope that the trans you have now had all of the updates installed to avoid any future problems..

Good Luck To you:cool:
