g-teched my car black84z28 01-31-2005, 01:39 PM
was bored and my friend mentioned he had one...so we thought...lets see what the camaro could do... these times are not what you would call "fast" but for what this car has done to it it has impressed me some.. car was ran with full interior and in street trim...it weighs about 3700-3900lbs with both of us in it only mods i know of done to the car before i bought it were a cam that is slightly bigger than stock, holley carb, edelbrock performer intake, headers and a shift kit when the trans was rebuilt things holding the car back were the crap 215/65/r15 cooper tires which tend to wanna spin real easily, stock exhaust....other problem was the weight...the car was ran on a 1/2 tank of gas also.....the biggest facter also was the stock converter only being a good 1600-1800 stall...not the best best 0-60 was 6.1 seconds and that had some wheelspin 14.77@99.5mph - manually shifted 14.82@98.5mph - left in overdrive 14.84@100.2mph - manually shifted 14.64@99.7mph - manually shifted these times were done in 30* weather and the car still has the stock suspension and 21 yr old rubber bushings in it ....things the car will get soon are bfg drag radials on my draglite rims that will knock off atleast 80 lbs off the car, the spare tire, fiberglass cowl hood, lower control arms, subframe connectors and rear seat will be removed...fresh tune and better wires than the crappy ones on it...plus my digital 6 ignition system my figure is the car has about 200-230hp at the rear wheels Chevyracincamaro 01-31-2005, 03:11 PM so that g-tech thing worked pretty well? ive heard that they suck at doing power and time measurements. i was looking into getting one a while ago but decided against it for one reason or another... Autofreefindersguy 01-31-2005, 05:00 PM Is that with a 305 or 350 V8? Good times ether way if close to being right. Savage Messiah 01-31-2005, 05:59 PM why the hell would you remove your LCAs z28 boy 01-31-2005, 07:21 PM G-tech is not the most accurate or atleast in my experiences. It read an entire second slower than the results at the track. My friend and i used it on his camaro and he ran a 16.4 with the G-tech we went to the track and he got a 15.0 it was v6 m5 camaro. black84z28 02-01-2005, 02:58 PM the trick to the gtech is you need to have it level on a level road for it to measure correctly...one my other car it was damn near right on with only the mph being a little off because the gtech doesn't estimate the mph like the track does... my car is a 305 i am removing the lca's becaise newr tubular ones are way better and dont flex under hard excelleration....with subframe connectors and lca alone i lost 3 tenths on my other car....with some fatter stickier tires i will break this time down when my track opens Chevyracincamaro 02-01-2005, 03:33 PM yeah i heard that the g-techs are are extremely picky. which is understandable considering the calculations the things are trying to do... black84z28 02-01-2005, 07:17 PM you have to have it perfect and level to work great...like i said before it was pretty damn close on my other car Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
