01 Impala intermittantly runs and dies all the time! HELP rysbrnr 01-30-2005, 01:28 AM
I need some input on my brother-in-law's 01 Impala. It's got fairly low milage and it's all stock.. no mods. His car will intermittantly die for no apparent reason, no check engine lights, or anything. He says power will just slowly die off and it'll die. It's left him stranded a few times now and our local dealer can't figure it out. He says it feels like it runs out of gas when it dies. I thought maybe a intermittant fuel pump or ignition problem. I have no clue about the quirks of GM cars....being I'm an import driver. If any of you have any advice or experience on an 01 Impala... lemme know ASAP. right now the car is stranded across town and it's cold out. I need to try to fix it for him ASAP.. thanks in advance! micali 02-14-2005, 09:59 PM try the fuel pressure regulator jbwelder 05-30-2005, 10:42 PM I had a similiar problem. No check engine light came on. Although when hooked up to code reader, it revealed that the crank position sensor was bad, causing all six cylinders to misfire randomly. We fixed that and the car still wouldn't hit the rev limitor. We found that the catalatyc converter was clogged. Had to replace it. Car runs great now. FYI... Under 80k emission essential parts are covered by factory. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
