1992 Caprice Hood Won't Stay Up Without Fallingdsbear2002 01-27-2005, 01:26 PM I recently had my car painted and when they painted the underside of my hood, they left it up and open for it to dry. The springs the hold the hood up failed and now has to be proped up with a stick. Is there anyway to fix the two springs, or would i have to replace them with ones from another caprice, if so, is it just as simple as taking them out and putting the others ones in their place? Any response would be much appreciated. 86CapMan 01-30-2005, 04:00 AM Just replacing them would be the best option. PeteA216 01-31-2005, 10:09 PM Yeah, just replace them, but you should get new ones rather than used because used springs will probably be pretty hammered as well. If you're going to be unbolting the hinge units, be sure when everything is bolted back together, very slowly and carefully let the hood down and make sure its aligned right, as to avoid messin up the new paint job. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
