My car was broken into two nights ago. They attempted to steal it, and luckily they failed. The battery was disconnected. When I reconnect the battery, my lights blink, and the horn goes honks on/off.

Looking at the engine, the only think that looked different was in my fuse box on the left side, near my coolant. The driving lamp fuse..is gone. And the top half of my Fog lamp fuse is missing. I've only had this car two weeks, so I'm not as familiar with how the engine looked before. I don't even know how this fuse box looked before the break-in.

It doesn't sound like the engine is turning at all( like when you have a semi-dead battery). Is there anything I should check, or should be looking for?

Oh yeah, the lights turn on inside, and the stereo does too.

yes, but the alarm system probably has an ignition cut out, this is why they couldnt steal it successfully. You might just be able to reset your alarm.if its a stock alarm, check your manual, if its not, then unplug the battery and then plug it back up. it should start beeping etc. Hold down the #1 button on your remote and the alarm should go off and the starter cut off should go off as well. If this doesnt work they might have tried cutting the wires under the streering wheel.

I have a similar problem. I was trying to program the remote and I unlocked the door manually and the alarm starting going off. Since the remote did not get programed I could not turn it off and had pull the relay for the horn and security as well as the fuse for the security system. I tryed upplugging the battery for over two hours and the minute i do the alarm goes off. I can get into program mode but I think both of the remotes are broken since I reolaced the batteries and still no good. Any suggestions.

when i purchased this car, it didn't have a remote. According to the instruction manual of a 96 altima. All i did was unloc the door with my key, and the honking stoped, and the starter was enabled. After a battery charge, the car worked again. Thanks for the alarm restart idea.
