air box help!!!!!!!wrxfreak123 01-26-2005, 07:18 PM ok i have a 1994 jeep grand cherokee lerado 4x4 and i bought a 3 inch air filter to replace my stock air box. the question is there are two lines running from the box. one from the top of the valve covers the other have no clue. what do i do? do i get little filters to cover them up? help? alphalanos 01-26-2005, 07:21 PM one is the PCV (positive crank case vent)from the top of the engine. and the other is IAT (intake air temperature. you need to make a small hole in your intake tubing and stich the temp line in there. as for the PCV you can get a little filter specially made for that. dksob81 01-26-2005, 10:56 PM 1 is for the Crankcase filter. and on my 1994 the other tube is capped there is nothing coming from it. wrxfreak123 01-30-2005, 08:55 PM ok more info. i got the air filter to work i got the hoses and drilled into the intake pipe and rerouted the hoses and works great now. you can hear the sucking when you step on it. i dont burn oil as much now but apperenty i looked into my crank case vent turb and it was nothing but oil. i opend the air box and guess what my filter was pure black. there was an oil puddle at the bottom of the airbox. so what is causing it? do i need to get a new oem head? im 17 and about to get a job so i can get it fixed. i have to get it to were everything is mechanicly sound so i can go to uti and its 6 hours away so i dont want anything tearing up on me. my dads says he thinks its the valve seals. could it be? or something else? JDPascal 01-30-2005, 10:41 PM You should replace the pcv valve and clean the inside of both vent hoses or better yet replace them. Sometimes the baffles inside the valve cover get plugged up and causes crankcase pressure to increase. That forces the oil into the breather tube to the air cleaner. Pull the valve cover and have a look. Can't hurt at the mileage thats probably on the engine anyway. JD will i need any special tools to get the valve cover off or is it just a take off bolt thing? is this a temporay fix or long term i will try it but i will need a long term solution thanks for the help jd JDPascal 01-30-2005, 11:10 PM Shouldn't need special tools. Should be good again for almost as long as it's been good now. Just tag any lines you have to take off to get the cover out. JD vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
