How much horsepower? sky73 01-26-2005, 05:45 PM
Hi. I was wondering if anyone would have an idea on how much horsepower this engine is making. 1973 GM 350 2 bolt main bored 30 over comp cams 256 xtreme energy cam world sportsman II cast iron heads (72cc chambers) edelbrock performer intake edelbrock performer 600 cfm carb K&N filter capecodtodd 01-29-2005, 09:47 PM without looking it up, my guess would be between 350 - 400 hp JohnnyR17 02-11-2005, 12:17 AM With that cam, somewhere in the neighborhood of 250hp. It will make very good torque, especially on the bottom end. Those heads will support a much larger camshaft. Get a camshaft with 220 degrees duration @50 and that motor will make pretty good power, it could see somewhere around 325. sky73 02-15-2005, 06:45 PM That sounds good. Will a cam of that size be streetable? Thanks. JohnnyR17 02-15-2005, 11:15 PM Yes sir it will! ..depending on the application. What vehicle will the motor be in? Manual or automatic transmission? Street or strip use? For the street,, in a heavier vehicle with an auto trans, Id run a comp 268H or 270H. Any bigger and youll need a stall converter. With a manual transmission, a 282H would be an awesome cam for that engine combination. Youd get that rump rump idle and that engine will really pull hard through the midrange all the way to 6500rpms or so. If youre going to strictly race it, a 292H would make around 350/375 horse on the top end. However, bottom end will suffer and itll feel slow on the street. Good luck! sky73 02-16-2005, 10:04 AM Awesome! Thank You. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
