Cheap performance upgradescajunkonection 01-26-2005, 04:13 PM Can someone suggest some inexpensive upgrades that will boost my HP and gas mileage. What about that turbonator air flow thing? Is that worth a crap or is it just a rip-off? How about a performance chip upgrade or exhaust upgrade? And will any of these upgrades void my warranties? joe92k1500 01-27-2005, 10:16 AM What year/ engine / model do you have?? TEXSRT4 01-28-2005, 12:09 AM no, not one should void your warranty. the "turbonator" or "tornado" do actaully work. we dynoed an impalla and came up with 7hp with the "tornado". that was on a back to back dyno run! and supposidly the owner told us that his mileage increased. other than that, i would strongly recommend an intake kit, exhuat, and computer upgrade. those will allow you to increase your mileage (as long as you keep your foot out of it, you will get better mileage) and will give you more power when you need to step on it. cajunkonection 01-28-2005, 09:30 AM Thanks for your input. By the way Joel, I have a 2004 Dodge Neon SXT with a 2.0L in it. Auto tranny, BHP is 132@5600, torque = 130@4600. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks again. justnotthatpunk 02-04-2005, 05:05 AM Automatic...I'm sorry :( Iceman makes a nice cold air intake for the neon (old gen., so I would assume new as well). Also, flowmaster makes a good catback exhaust. DanF 02-06-2005, 01:16 AM Those tornado air inserts don't work, the theory only work on carbed cars. It won't work because your car has multiport injection, meaning the fuel and the air are kept seperate until right before the cumbustion chamber. They way they work to improve milage.performance is spinning the air to mix better with the fuel. The airdoesn't have enough time to mix with the fuel because its sucked into the cylinder too fast because of the intense vacuum which stops all air movement except in one direction. The theory works and works well on TBI and Carbed car not very well if at all on Multiport cars. The best thing to do is a better cat back, then a cai, thats about it. A cat back can run a few hundred and the cai shoudl be maybe abot 150. cajunkonection 02-06-2005, 04:44 PM Hey Thanks Dan but I really don't know what you are talking about as far as the cat back or CAI thing is concerned. What is a cat back and what is a CAI oh wait Cold Air Intake ok I just figured that one out but what about the cat back? Thanks again for the heads up on the tornando thing though. skatendestroy 02-07-2005, 09:02 AM cat back is a brand of an exuast system joe92k1500 02-07-2005, 10:07 AM Cat back basically is what its called. It replaces the factory exhaust from the catalytic converter back. There are a bunch of brands to look at. Here are a few big names: Pacesetter, borla, dynomax, DC sports, and many others. Cost is $250-$900 depending on the brand. CAI will cost about $180-$250. Brands are INJEN, K&N, Iceman, AEM. Hope that helps. cajunkonection 02-07-2005, 10:38 AM Thanks and keep the ideas coming MrSirius 02-07-2005, 02:23 PM www.modernperformance.com DanF 02-07-2005, 11:31 PM TEXSRT4 02-07-2005, 11:55 PM www.speedmerchant.com. click on "online store in the menu bar (far right) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
