We finally got it on the truck.

Since what arrived in the mail was a piece of crap, I had a shop take off the frame tubes of the bumper, and make new ones.

The new tubes are longer, and go through to the box section of the frame. 6 bolts on each rail drilled while the bumper was on the frame so they line up, and don't have any slop. It's not going anywhere now.

Oh, and the bumper is even now. If I had put it on as delivered it would have been about 1/2" off. We sanded and primered it today. I'm going offroading tomorrow, so Charles and I will finish it next weekend or so.

Hehe, did I get any primer on your house? :uhoh:

Sorry about the license plate...I'll make it up to you!

BTW, the six bolts all went through factory holes...three on the bottom and 3 on the side where the factory bumper bolts go through. I don't even want to imagine the type of force that would probably be required to remove the bumper from the frame!

CONGRATS SCHLUD!

While I haven't re-welded any parts of my bumper yet, I do know the pain of re-drilling the holes ... we should start a "KMA" thread in the pictures section for those of us who have one.

I paid $65 to have the shop do the hole drilling.

They had much better equipment, robots, drills, etc.

Did you stick with the welded on D-rings, or switch to shackle mounts?

The bumper looks damn good I have to say. Schlud, yours looks to be a functional work in progress as well.

 I love KMA...

NOT.

stayed with the D rings. the bumper piece itself went relatively unchanged except for swapping the sides it hinged on.

I love skid row!!

I just hope that there is a new option soon for the rest of us that want to have a new rear bumper.

I would love to have a new setup before the end of the summer.
