if the dealer bent over and gave your a "good" price on your vehical, and turned around and gave a "good" price on selling it, then he would go out of business... it is rediculous, my buddie gets 10% off of new vehicals and 8% off of used and i think 100 bucks for every budget vehical they sell, so yes dealers are goin in the exit only... if you want more then the 2k for the truck you must sell it yourselfe... kbb gives me a trade in value of 2800 on my truck (98 long bed with 100k) and 4170 for privet party same thing, yet the retail value is at almost 6500... <insert opinion here>

It didn't drop in price. They have 2 different sets of books. 1 telling them how much to pay for a car, and the other telling them how much to sell the car for. There is a big price difference between the 2 books.

Guess which set of books the insurance company will show you? And they lie and say there is only 1 book price.

Your best bet is buy one of those free advertising papers which everyone sells their cars through, and see how much the average private seller is selling their trucks for.

If I was selling a car with a nice stereo in I'd pull the stereo, and put a stock one back in. Stereo's never raise the price, and a new paint job might even lower the price since people don't know what you covered up.

I went to trade in my truck a couple months ago and the dealer would only give me $2500. He said it was because it had been repainted! Its a 2000 2.2 5 speed with 75000 miles at the time. I asked him if he had any more similar s-10's at that price because i would buy every single one of them!!!

thats what i was tryen to say, sorry for not bein so clear and thanks for fixen it for my overboard, and that is why you sell your vehical privetly, its not as complex as selling your house, just a paper with your signiture and some time, much more $$ if you do it yourselfe... and in all acuality there are 3 book prices, one for the dealer to buy it for, one for the dealer to sell it for and one to expect how much to sell/pay for a vehical privet party, go to www.kbb.com (http://www.kbb.com) and look up the price on your truck, pretty selfe explanitory

Your best bet is to stay away from trading it in. You are going to get bent over and take it in the backside from dealers. I suggest you go and put an ad in your local auto trader magazine

http://www.autotrader.com

An ad will cost you between $25 and $75. I've successfully sold a few vehicles there. You are able to have the ads on the internet & in the monthly magazine they put out.
