that sounds about right. since you probably get dealer prices you might want to try calling mitsu and see how much a new one costs.

New ones are about 800 IIRC. SBR sells remans for 350. A junkyard piece in great shape is the best bet (not undersized), but not the easiest thing to find. ;)

Forced Performance sells brand new 100mm cranks for $650. Theirs are not remanufactured, but brand new (according to the website).

heres the deal. i'd put off building my 6bolt this winter because of lack of $. i didn't realise just how much $ it was going to cost!!! so, now im buying the parts in peices untill i buy a house this summer. then after my $ is untied i can spend friviously as i desire. i'm considering getting the 1g 100m crank/head/manifold/tb this month wich would cost me $140 for 100m, $160 for the full head, $10 for manny, $10 for tb. i dont want to feel like im paying to much for the cylinder head or the crankshaft becasue i *don't* have to by them now. i can wait untell i see a steal.

i have no idea if $160 is to much for a 1g head. i really dont need anything but the core because im going to machine, port, polish it when i do my block, and replace everything with new hardware sometime in the middle of this year. but as it goes i just cant spend the $ all up front like i would like to do. so if anyone can post what they think som going prices are it would help me make some decisions. Thanks guys.

1stGenRocks: i did check, the new 100m 89-92 hyundai crankshafs $446 new from hyundai @ my cost. to much.

Last Q. is it quite easy to tell if a crankshft has been machined? i've heard once their machined they loose all their strength. so if anyone could either conferm or deny that, that would also help. Thanks

the reason they shouldnt be turned (machined) is because mitsubishi uses a surface hardening treatment on them after they are cut. i can sell you a 1G head core for 100 bucks plus shipping. its from a NT so you would need cams for it.

What model 89-92 hyundais came with the 100mm crank?

hyundai http://www.roadraceengineering.com/mitsumotorapplications.htm

wouldnt a machinest be able to re-harden the crankshaft?

i might be intrested in that head. im trying to find steals. 100 for a core is fair, but not a steal.

i was just looking around on mitsubishigraveyard.com and i was scrolling through the engine parts and they actually have a 6-bolt 2.4 crank from an early galant which should be the crank that you need, do a little research before you buy it but i'm pretty sure that's the 4g64 crank.
