99 Eclipse GSX pricingSchister66 01-24-2005, 07:20 PM I am looking at a 99 GSX and i was wondering if i'm getting screwed. It is a silver 99 GSX with black 10 spoke 17" rims. It has loads of engine mods and the owner claims it will run a high 11 or a low 12 in a quarter mile with the right tuning. He currently runs mid 12s. He had the car dynoed at 18psi and reached 270whp. Since then he has done some mods and at 24psi, he claims 340whp. This car is sick. Do you think i should buy it....i'm 18. He wants $13000 for it...is that a good deal or not. There are too many mods to list, but it has an upgraded turbo, intercooler, new high-cc injectors and about $1100 in A-pillar guages. What do you think? gstclips 01-24-2005, 07:31 PM I think that it is more fun to build the car yourself because you learn alot and are able to say "I built this car"...ask to see maintenance records... obviously he has brought it out and beat on it, and i worry about the fact he told you "with the right tuning"...is it not tuned correctly now? TreeFrog 01-24-2005, 07:36 PM a better question is how are you going to pay for it? car loan? i think not PearlGT 01-25-2005, 07:20 PM what is the mileage? If its high then the engine could potentially give out any time shortly after you get the car. This happened to me when I found an older 3000gt which appeared to be in awesome shape with 123,000 miles. At 130,000 miles it threw a rod after I had taken very good care of it. I would suggest starting off with something cheaper that has less mods unless you know for a fact you can handle the power that gsx is cranking out. I've heard too many stories of teenagers just like us buying amazingly fast used cars only to have them seen flipped over a median or wrapped around a tree. My advice, take something with a bit less power and build that up. Not only will you appreciate the car that much more but you will be more adept at controlling the car and this is very important. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
