Rear differential Gasket -- 92 4runner 4x4RevSublime 01-22-2005, 07:19 PM I've been leaking diff fluid and am planning on replacing the diff gasket. can it be done by just dropping rear drive shaft and pulling the diff cover? or is it a more detailed operation? any help would be appreciated! thx Brian R. 01-24-2005, 06:20 PM What gasket or seal is leaking? RevSublime 01-24-2005, 07:24 PM the differential cover gasket....just getting a really slow drip from the bottom Brian R. 01-24-2005, 08:18 PM First, try torquing down all the bolts in the bolt pattern. Some may have vibrated loose. If you have to remove the 3rd member, you have to pull out both of the axles and the rear propellor shaft. If you have a locking differential, then you have to lock it first. RevSublime 01-24-2005, 08:47 PM yeah...I retorqued all the bolts. That helped a bit but still have a slight drip. I decided to take it to the mechanic. Had enough of a time trying to get all the bolts off the front of the pumpkin. (if i only had a lift...heh) thanks for the help!
