I have a 1995 Dodge Stratus with 93000 miles on it. A couple of weeks ago I started having problems with the ignition/fuel fuse blowing under the hood. Now, just about all the discussions I've seen about this point to the starter needing to be replaced. The starter is about $150.00, so before I buy a new one, I want to make sure that this is my problem. If anyone out there has had this problem, please tell me if a new starter fixed it. Thanks.

i had this same problem on a '96 Stratus. We had the starter rebuilt for less than $100 by a local shop - that included install. Fixed the problem and it has been fine since....

I'd say do it yourself, starter is an easy fix, just a couple of bolts and wires, and you save a bunch of money, the Autozone in my area has the starter for the Stratus at $119 with a $70 core charge, which means if you take the old one back after doing the repair, you pay $39 to fix it.

Well, I got the starter today and installed it myself. We'll see if this will fix my problem as it did shadowpucks. It wasn't that bad to install, just tight quarters to work with. I found that it helps to remove the intake box coming from the air filter to get to the top bolt on the starter. I checked with autozone and they wanted 146.00. I got it from napa for 120.00 after core return. I hope the hell this fixes it.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a loose cable to the starter. Tightened everything down, and it starts fine even with a 10 amp fuse.
