Tires, BrakesFrogbones 01-21-2005, 05:24 PM I'm having new tires put on tomarrow Dunlop FM90's. I was able to get 40,000 miles out of the stock bridgestones. Is that good or did I chew them up before thier time? I drive everyday about 60miles a weekday, weekends are not traveld much in my car. Also my brakes seem to be doing very well. Whats the avg. life span of the stock pads that come on the car? I'm at 40,000miles. When I do replace them I will go metallic, premium pads. I can and will do my own brakes ( I do all my own light maintenence) freakray 01-21-2005, 06:49 PM 40,000 is reasonable for a set of tires, I have 30,000 on my current set and will definitely be replacing them over the summer. donkeyboy 01-23-2005, 12:02 AM cant really neccesarily put a lifespan on brakes its all dependant on the driver, wehre u drive how often you brake etc....kinda hard to give you a general lifespan Frogbones 01-24-2005, 10:05 AM cant really neccesarily put a lifespan on brakes its all dependant on the driver, wehre u drive how often you brake etc....kinda hard to give you a general lifespan True :) robmxer 02-02-2005, 04:07 PM My stock potenza tires lasted 8,000 miles. Replaced with g-force tires, lasted 9,000 miles Just bought tires with 50,000 mile warrenty, hopefully the'll last at least 15k!!!!! My car has 18,000 miles and I have replaced the front brake pads. freakray 02-02-2005, 07:22 PM My stock potenza tires lasted 8,000 miles. I would like to see your driving style. :eek7: I live in Baltimore, treat the beltway like a speedway, and have just turned 31,000 on the original tires and brakes. donkeyboy 02-02-2005, 08:19 PM i have pirelli p zero neros m&s now, they have lasted about 9k so far with about 40 percent tread left, they stick to the road like a train on rails....and i like to turn lets put it that way for my driving style...all country backroads, its like one big subaru commercial shiseiji 02-03-2005, 11:23 AM I like your driving style :) I hear the stock Potenzas are not very good at all so I think FrogBones got good use out of them. SabreKhan 02-03-2005, 12:22 PM I'm at around 15,000 miles, and I'm about to replace the stock RE92 tires, but they've been to more than a couple autocrosses, so if you're just street driving you should get more life out of them. freakray 02-03-2005, 05:08 PM ...and i like to turn lets put it that way for my driving style...all country backroads, its like one big subaru commercial That's how my drive to work is :evillol: 6 miles of winding country road. robmxer 02-07-2005, 06:59 PM I drive only on country backroads-I work at a lake and the road to work is like an 8 mile long racetrack, I know the road too well. Just the other day some guy in this $100,000 plus italian(I don't know what the hell it was, but it was fast as hell on the straights) car was in front of me, I caught up to him and he started driving harder and harder, until he almost lost it. Then I passed him. As he turned his head and saw me passing, he looked very confused. Sidewall flex seemed less on the stock tires than the g-force(sport) tires on 17"s. (stock on 16's) ragnarok720 02-10-2005, 06:04 AM i have the fm901's, they arent too shaby but dont expect many miles out of them. great handling but i still think my gforce kdw's were way better. WRXdriver05 02-10-2005, 12:09 PM The Potenza RE-92's are God's of grip...................if you wanna end up in a ditch    SabreKhan 02-10-2005, 01:44 PM gods of grip...........compared to that guy I know with no fingers. RE92s would make good doriftu tires. keita 02-10-2005, 05:28 PM HEY FELLAS...keep in mind that Subaru does cover brakes under the warranty. My wife just had new brake pads on her Forester before she sold it...it's all free. SabreKhan 02-11-2005, 05:05 PM To upgrade the brakes and get more stopping power, or to leave the brakes stock and have them free for the life of the warranty... that is the question. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
