Ok guys, time to get the Blazer forum organized. BlazerLT 01-21-2005, 05:17 AM
I have been upgraded to Moderator for this forum and over the next while I will be compiling and organizing the forum to save a lot of trouble for people asking the same questions over and over again. This will make this forum more enjoyable and will decrease the frustration of having to explain a fix over and over again to new members. Let me know which fixes should be compiled in one master list. slreno1217 01-21-2005, 06:11 AM for sure all the no start conditions. crazys182003 01-21-2005, 07:36 AM and also all the 4x4 questions 2000blazerls 01-21-2005, 08:42 AM I have seen several people since I joined asking about overheating colling systems and how to flush them. Also maybe a sticky for performance links/questions? blazee 01-21-2005, 08:54 AM Some of these have already been said but.... Heater not working Overheating How to Flush (radiator not the toilet) No start Hub Assembly '97 Ignition Announce to Change Rad Cap even if no problems No start Please Have codes if Check engine light is on. Sticking Gas Pedal 4wd Problem 2000blazerls 01-21-2005, 09:08 AM Congrats btw on the Mod upgrade! I have been reading through tons of old threads and you definitly earned it! /ass kissing off =) crazys182003 01-21-2005, 09:08 AM good one about the 97 ignition change. Also though just thought of maybe including one for the different oil whether to go synthetic or not. Pretty sure that has been discussed numerous times. blazee 01-21-2005, 09:24 AM You could check into that thing Turbocpe was saying about displaying the vehicle information under the avatar, so we don't have to go to their profile if they forget to tell us. What all can Moderators do? Can you change that thing under my name to say "Asshole" instead of "AF Enthusiast"? ACCX4 01-21-2005, 10:49 AM info on where keyless entry code is located Wipers seem to be a fairly popular issue BlazerLT 01-21-2005, 11:12 AM Keep them coming guys, I am compiling. 2000blazerls 01-21-2005, 11:16 AM Well I am always looking for visual upgrades too. Interior stuff, rims, body kits, light upgrades. I plan on keeping this Blazer for a while so I want it to look nice. Usually ending up going to Ebay and you never know what you are going to get there. Maybe a parts review section of some kind describing the part, and where you got it from? bradhaight 01-21-2005, 11:56 AM Blazerlt/ Congrats- I like to see a link to trouble shooting 4x4's, Too. Year and step to follow. Will look forward to seeing changes.. Good luck! And thanks for helping me out on my problem.. chembrad 01-21-2005, 12:00 PM Congratz on your promotion. :smokin: 1. Info on manuals and where to get them. 2. CPI - symptoms, p/n's of replacement parts, "how to" 3. Heater core - symptoms, how to test, how to replace 4. Basic maintenance schedule - what to change and how often 5. Fluid recommendations 6. Info on Dexcool vs. Old Green vs. New Prestone yellow 7. Other good chevy forums on the internet 8. Cool air intake systems - benefit, where to get Sorry but this is all I could think of at the spur of the moment. chembrad 01-21-2005, 12:11 PM How about a "DOH!" section on common mistakes to avoid? Stripping the T30 holding the fuel lines in place comes to mind... hunter01 01-21-2005, 01:16 PM Electrical add ons- Fog lights-stereo-remote starter-etc. Allbert 01-21-2005, 03:52 PM Regarding the wiper issue, there was one post that mentioned the DIY fix of soldering the bad joints near the connector... could you make sure that info is near the top for anyone else who wants to save a few bucks. swalt 01-21-2005, 04:56 PM Lets get a "Hot To" section going, but it needs to be moderated. Only posts approved by you would make the cut. doozie 01-22-2005, 07:50 AM I just wanted to say congrats to you! It's not an "upgrade", you're promoted! :smokin: crazys182003 01-22-2005, 08:45 AM but is he getting paid? I always felt a promotion meant more money.... BlazerLT 01-22-2005, 04:21 PM No money..... mrfirebird 01-22-2005, 08:19 PM the ford sight that i belong to breaks up the different post into catagories and that way you can read about specific problems., brakes,fuel,body,electrial...etc :2cents: crazys182003 01-22-2005, 08:37 PM I believe that is what he is currently working on doing. bowhunter1432 01-23-2005, 07:07 AM first of all congrats!! and how about one for the front end stuff like, bearings, hubs, sway bars, ect, ect? doozie 01-23-2005, 02:33 PM Ah, upgrade, promotion, WHATEVER! I'm just glad I stopped being a lurker and joined in... texwill 01-24-2005, 08:35 AM After getting my "new" 95, I would like to see afitament guide for tires. Also a few suspension links for those of us who use ours as fourwheelers. You can reference alot of this information (fitament guide) at ntwonline.com and such. Also, I think some stuff I have seen here is the CPI units and transfer case vaccum switches, information about fixing these or tech articles etc. Maybe even some vehicle make, model and year performance specs or vehicle specs, example horsepower for a 95 4.3L, cargo room, most popular internet performance shops for certian vehicles. Just to name a few things, good luck. wolfox 01-24-2005, 12:17 PM Mod and show forum. Some guys are real proud of their rigs when they are running right, looking sharp and have loads of goodies inside. ;) deadeye 01-24-2005, 12:57 PM Common upgrades. 'Next step' upgrades. Aftermarket toys, both looks and performance. Recalls. RPO's Congrats and good luck. mrprez 01-24-2005, 06:02 PM This is the first for me to use a forum like this so don't hesitate to tell me if I am doing something wrong. I have a 96 jimmy SLT. I did a flush over the holidays and yesterday major amonts of raditor fluid were poring out of the engine block? I was unable to determine exactly where. I suspect a freeze plug but have not verified that yet. Ant suggestions. BlazerLT 01-24-2005, 06:09 PM Please start your own thread on your problem. Welcome to the forum! Rick Norwood 01-24-2005, 08:49 PM Congrats Big guy. You earned it. My suggestion for catagories would be: General Items of interest (Like your water injection, or Fram oil filters, or PCV Valves etc.) Routine Maintenance Tune-up Major Rebuilding Fuel Issues (CPI Injection, Nut Kits etc.) No starts/hard starts Electrical Ignition Switch Cooling issues Wierd Noises Tranny Front End/Suspension/Hubs etc. Customizing/Modifications (Paint, tires, Stereos, remote starters etc.) danpaz_uy 01-24-2005, 11:19 PM hi, congratulations for the upgrade, iwould suggest idle problems, besides the other that other users already suggest. Thanks for share your knowledges BlazerLT 01-24-2005, 11:25 PM Keep em coming guys, although I will not be able to implement them all, I will compile a list of fixes for people to initially look at before they ask their questions. BlazinSaddles 01-25-2005, 07:34 PM How about a little "off topic" catergory so we can talk to each other about things that don't fall into a normal catergory. Like favorites stories about our blazers or something funny happened on the way to the forum today. BlazerLT 01-25-2005, 08:13 PM I am not able to make different forum subsections but some can start up a thread on interesting stories if they want. riles70 01-25-2005, 10:37 PM Although I am repeating what other people have said already, here are my problems with my 1998: * Intermittent wipers (the GM recall stopped at 1997 models, problem continued in later years as well though) * No floor heat (single digit temps are a killer on the feet!!) * turn signal constantly clicks Also you may want to let people know that there is a class action law suit against GM for the use of Dexcool antifreeze. Save any receipts for work performed relative to the engine coolant. Visit the following web site for info: http://www.cwcd.com/CM/MassTorts/MassTorts5.asp Thanks all!! BlazerLT 01-25-2005, 10:43 PM This therad is not for your own problems, but to post common asked questions for a quick reference thread. Please post your own thread in the main section and I will help you there. dmbrisket 51 01-26-2005, 11:46 AM blazer congrats to your promotion, for both the blazer and s10 forum, could you put up a classified page? get the dip shits off of the question page tryen to sell theire headlights and what not, also gives people a place to go if they need something... sorry if this was already mentioned didnt read through the second page or the third im at school and need to get going, but i thoguht i woudld mention because it annoys me and i know it pisses you off BlazerLT 01-26-2005, 01:06 PM I will keep this forum clean for now seeing I am not a mod over at the s10 section, but hopefully soon I will be a mod in all things S-series on this site. dmbrisket 51 01-26-2005, 01:36 PM last i checked on the s forum it has you listed as a mod at the bottum of the page with someone else BlazerLT 01-26-2005, 01:47 PM I just checked. Have a K5 section, S-10 sections divided by body style. 94 and older, 95 and newer. Split a classifieds section the same way. Have an off topic section. my $.02 dmbrisket 51 01-30-2005, 12:16 AM go 96 and newer due to obdI and obdII... or 98 for gen 2... or leave it open because some problems (most) can be diagnosed by someone who ownes a newer vehical even though the question reguards an older one... my :2cents: BlazerLT 01-30-2005, 12:33 AM I won't be able to create new sections. All I will be able to do is set up stickies for easy to read info instead of people asking the same question over and over. bpletcj 01-30-2005, 02:28 PM So when will the sections be ready? BlazerLT 01-30-2005, 03:19 PM As I stated just before you posted, I WILL NOT be creating more sections, I will be posting a help sticky thread. bpletcj 01-30-2005, 03:23 PM As I stated just before you posted, I WILL NOT be creating more sections, I will be posting a help sticky thread. Sorry for my confusion. So when will the help sticky treads be ready? BlazerLT 01-30-2005, 03:27 PM Sorry for my confusion. So when will the help sticky treads be ready? When I post them up. I am not stating a timeline. DA HULK 02-02-2005, 06:31 PM what the error codes are say from autozone and what they are and any common things to change or fix to correct the error codes. corvette68427 02-02-2005, 07:23 PM Hi, Just discovered this forum last week and have learned alot about my Blazer. The day of back yard mechanics are not the same as they used to be. I have a 68 chev and a 67 GMC and would not hesitate to tackle any job on them. My 99 Blazer transmission was a pain in the butt. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for all the replies I got and others for similar symtoms as the tranny is now fixed an the diagnosis from this forum was right on the money. I especially like BlazerLTs dedication to proper preventative maintenance (oil change etc). Will still come one now and then and if there is something I can intelligently reply on I will. One thing that would be nice for me on here is a spell checker!! I will just be able to write up some helpful stickies. barlow1952 02-16-2005, 04:05 PM Good job Blazer LT stick to all the main problems ball joints door pins hood hinges and any quick fixes they also help Jimmy owners Good Luck CCCD 02-27-2005, 01:07 AM Congratulations! I’m trying to find the thread on hard starting, rough idle, reading the codes using a jumper wire and reading the flashes of the Eng. Service light. One response was from sykopenguin, SF Regular ,02.25.05. (I printed it to take our to my garage) I have looked but can not find it. I would like to keep the threads together for ease of finding like information. Here’s the first question maybe you can help with. He gave the following diagram for reading the codes: 0 0 0 0 X X 0 0 0 0 0 0 Plug the jumper wire into the two “X”’s. I have a ’97 S10 Blazer with 4.3L “W” engine, my connector (under dash next to parking brake) looks like this: 0 X 0 X X 0 0 X X 0 0 X 0 0 0 X The “X”’s are locations with the “metal sockets” the “0”’s look blank. So my question is which pins do I jumper? Thanks and if I can back on that thread I’ll continue my questions and or my results. This one is for site improvement and the one you are looking for is someone else's. (It's not nice to Hi-Jack their thread) As for your questions: You can't get codes using jumpers in a 97. You have to use a code scanner. The thread you are looking for is: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=371113 CCCD 02-27-2005, 10:20 AM Thanks and understand. (have started a few on that myself...) Otherwise a way to organize might be to block the forum into sections such as: Air conditioner and heater Body/Exterior Console Cooling Electrical Emission system Engine Exhaust system Frame Fuel system Information labels Instrument panel Steering gear and linkage Transmission Wheels/Tires Anyway, keep up the good work Blue99JimmyEnvoy 04-15-2005, 02:22 PM Congrats on the promo, you definitely earned it! Don't know if anyone else suggested this, but perhaps an 'After You Buy' type. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, tranny/transfer case/diff flush & fill, oil change, etc. I'm sure there's others, but nothing comes to mind. chris15706 04-19-2005, 11:49 PM How bout a section for oil issues or any kind of oil or gas additives. Anything from oil pressure switch locations to fuel cleaners. There seems to be ongoing debates and questions that fill up alot of thread space. TonyMazz 05-13-2005, 05:15 PM Have we gotten enough ideas for the change yet ...it's been almost 5 months of data collection...!?!? :sly: BlazerLT 05-14-2005, 01:18 PM Have we gotten enough ideas for the change yet ...it's been almost 5 months of data collection...!?!? :sly: It will be done when it gets done. Perhaps a list as what those similar things are would be appropriate and helpful. When I first got my Jimmy, I had never owned a GMC product and didn't know it was so similar under the hood to Blazers, Sonomas, etc. Buying the Haynes manual of course helped but again, maybe a brief sticky to inform newbies. Sen Sen 06-17-2005, 07:00 PM if it hasn't been suggested, I would suggest a "members" section. where you can post a pic of your truck and introduce yourself to the forum. ldr1ff 06-29-2005, 08:10 PM It would be nice if all the posts could be grouped into folders by vehicle subsection. Just look at the table of contents of a Haynes manual and sub-divide it like it. That way it will narrow it down the areas to look in instead of 12 pages of 125-150 posts each, wasting time clicking on multiple posts. diehlga 07-08-2005, 03:22 PM I will probably get blasted for this one, :grinno: but how about info for us gals that try to figure out some of the problems on our Blazers? Some things may seem simple to guys, but some of us are not familiar with the every day things that go wrong and the easy remedies. Many repair shops look at me walk in and they automatically get that "she is ignorant and I can make a buck" look in their eyes. I like to know what I am talking about and at least be able to do some general diagnostics. Many repair shops look at me walk in and they automatically get that "she is ignorant and I can make a buck" look in their eyes. I like to know what I am talking about and at least be able to do some general diagnostics. It would help a lot if the we could have any area for diagnosing and suggesting remedies for the "mysterious" engine codes. I realize this might be redundant, but it would help the newbies a lot. :) Thanks Is the Chilton manual available online? It would be a bitch to download, but an excellent reference for the "simple" things.
