Last couple of months car does not start right up when cold. Runs fine after it is started. I think the car is "Thinking" that it is warm. The fan runs as soon as the key is turned even when cold. Question... Does the sensor need to be screwed into the block to work propperly? I bought a coolant temp sensor, took it home, unplugged the one on my engine, and plugged the new one to test if the fans would run. I did this without actually screwing the new one into the block. The fans did come on. Could it be diff if I had installed it???? Changed wires/plugs and fuel filter and still the same. Press reg has no leaks thru vacuum. Changed the ignition coil and it started right up. After a month of working fine it is back to the same problem. Any THOUGHTS.... THANX!!

I believe your looking a 2 different problems here. Yes the sensor needs too be screwed into the block. That might be your continous running fan problem. The starting problem might just be a simple case of water in the gas which uaually shows up when the weather gets colder. A new filter will not solve the problem if there is water in the tank. It will might improve it for a short period of time and then back to the same problem after the new filter has been contaminated.

Thanx For Your Help. I Installed The Coolant Temp Sensor And It Worked. The Car Starts Right Up And The Fans Are Not Running When The Car Is Cold. I READ IN A FEW PLACES THAT SAID THAT THE COMPUTER USES THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR TO RUN THE FANS AND TO ALSO TO CONTROL THE AMOUNT OF FUEL NEEDED TO START WHEN COLD. Pretty Happy Here. Thanx....
