i recently purchased the adapter kit for the caprice to install a cd player. after getting it all wired, it turned on and worked the first time. since the first time i used the cd player, neither the cd player turns on, and the dome light doesn't turn on either. i have checked all of the fuses on the inside of the car...and they're all good. also, my brake lights are out yet the taillights (when the headlights are turned on) work. i was told that there is a switch up under the brake pedal....can anyone help?? thanks. also, what is the best way to run an amplifier cable from the battery to the back of the car? thanks guys.

Were all the lights working before the CD install?

Did you use the stock wiring harness for radio power or did you tap in to someplace else?

Did you remove the negative battery cable prior to radio installation?

Was the vehicle in a high corrosion area and/or in an accident?

Are there any other electical mods/repairs to the car?

What kind of adapter and CD player did you install?

I think we can narrow the possible problems with this info.

Thanks

all of the lights except for the brake lights worked. now the dome light does not work.

i used the stock harness w/ a wiring adapter from an automotive audio install shop.

area is not highly corrosive

only other problem is the brake lights not working

i don't know what brand adapter - from audio install place; installed a sony xplod headunit

First thing we gotta do is get the brake lights working. There's a switch that attaches to the brake pedal, but we'll address that in a minute.

Do you turn signals work? Emergency flashers?

Please check front/rear lights and let us know.
