10:1 CR is this possible and whats the benefits and is it worth it?ty423 03-12-2002, 01:21 AM I was reading about using NA 300ZX(Z32) pistons on a SR20DE. I read that it will increase compression to 10:1. This question is to George or whoever else has knowledge. I was wondering what has to be done inorder to do this and what are the benefits....TIA slickkedar 03-12-2002, 10:17 AM I think the JDM P11 comes with a 10:1 CR....... bump909 03-12-2002, 10:40 AM my jdm motor has a 10:1 CR and it came from a '91 primera. Blue93G20 03-12-2002, 04:01 PM Mine too......JDM SR20DE = 10.0 : 1.0 Compression.....:D kheetar 03-13-2002, 04:36 AM How much more horsepower does the JDM SR20DE get? JKdonger 03-13-2002, 04:49 AM us sr20de 140 hp and I think the JDM sr20de has like 10-12 more hp NA Racer 03-13-2002, 05:37 AM 151hp to be precise:D My 2c P11GT 03-13-2002, 09:24 PM Yep, the UK spec GT also has 10:1 as standard, and it has 150 BHP as standard. The problem arises when it comes to turboing the engine, ive had to reduce mine as its far too high. I shaved the domes off mine (as did Mike Kojima) which by itself would yield a 10:1 CR. But, we also had our heads redone buy DPR and the combustion chambers welded, making them smaller and yielding an 11:1 CR in combination with the flat topped 300ZX pistons. Indeed a 10:1 CR requires no ECU reprogramming. An 11:1 CR requires a new JWT program. The benefit is additonal power, but it's something you would want to do when rebuilding your engine, but wouldn't want to just do this by itself. It wouldn't be worth it in that case. jprimera 03-17-2002, 01:02 AM Hi My japan primera car have the 10.1 cr and came with 145 hp. pche059 04-11-2002, 05:59 AM Hey Geo, I am gonna start the work on my roller rocker engine block. I am told by so many ppl that 11:1CR is kinda too high for reliabilty... well i am thinking if i am going to do it i might as well go higher than 10:1... what are the ways to increase the compression ratio? and is it possible to increase the ratio to say 10.5:1 instead of the ultimate 11:1? would you think a normal ecu tuner would be capable of tuning the ECU with the raise in CR? regarding the fact that we do not have access to JWT's product here in NZ. and what duration and cam lift of the cams do you recommand? MitchQ45 04-11-2002, 12:59 PM here's an interesting webpage about compression ratios i got from the NICO forum: http://www.grapeaperacing.com/GrapeApeRacing/tech/misccompratio.cfm Quetzolcotl 04-16-2002, 12:39 AM a thinner head gasket will raise compression. the reverse is true to lower it ales 04-16-2002, 11:22 PM What about using VE pistons? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
