dealership vs. garage for headgasket repairkris_iugirl 01-18-2005, 02:57 PM Do you think that it is better to go to a Plymouth/Dodge dealership or to a garage to get a blown headgasket replaced? I am thinking of going to the dealership in town but I haven't really shopped around because most places tell me it just depends and that I need to bring it in for them to tell me what is wrong with it and give me a price range. Well I know what is wrong with it and I don't need to get it checked out every place I go and pay $30-100 every time. Any suggestions or advice? BleedDodge 01-18-2005, 03:54 PM Call the dealership in your town and ask them what their shop rate is per hour, and how many hours it would take them to do the job. Then call the garage you had in mind and ask them what their shop rate is, and how many hours it would take them to do it. Calculate which is more and then decide who you want to take it to. Parts wouldn't be very much money. All you would need would be head bolts, the head gasket, a valve cover gasket, and maybe the gaskets for the manifolds. And sealant for the gaskets. When I did my head gasket I just reused the old gaskets on the manifolds because I couldn't get them on time. Worked good. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
