Street Racing is it dangerous?kris 06-20-2001, 02:54 PM Take alook at this link off of another forum (http://www.g1teg.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=371&FORUM_ID=3&CAT_ID=6&Topic_Title=Another+street+racing+tragedy%2E%2E%2E&Forum_Title=NTC) and you decide. I would hope we could all think twice about when, and where we do it. DVSNCYNIKL 06-20-2001, 03:49 PM Yeah, someone posted that here. I think it was pretty stupid. I think a 7 year old boy died crossing the street and the car took him out. Shame. Street racing, I know we all do it, but it is really stupid and should be kept to the track. But people will see that, realize how dumb it is, then go do it later on. I guess until it happens to that person, they won't change. vettemaan 07-07-2001, 07:38 PM where i live there is not as many intersections as most places we just have loooooooooooon ass roads so i would say its not as dangerous. RiceRocket 08-22-2001, 10:35 PM I saw this on TV several weeks ago... they were showing in NY, some street racers racing while other cars are passing by.... they make the other cars wait behind them and race in the middle of the road. This was the same night fast and the furious came out so I don't know if everyone just got off from the movie.... finally the cops came and cornered all of them. I say if you're iresponsible enough to race on the streets and endanger others, then you gotta pay the price! RacerJon 08-27-2001, 07:49 PM Here is a link to more street racing aftermath photos: http://www.speedoptions.com/news_headline.asp?aID=1680 Warning: the five at the bottom are VERY graphic. It's enough to scare people off the streets and onto a strip or track, where racing is at its safest! Jon cefiroman 08-28-2001, 03:05 AM Hmm makes me think more about the street racing! I had a friend die last yr because his best friend and a really good friend of myn race'd the wrong way being stupted and decided to pull the e-brake at about 90mph and put his ACURA INTAGRA (spell) into a spin withc he lost total control of his car and hit his best friend with the ass end of his car he jumped out and and knew something was wrong, walked around the car to see his boy layin their next to his car wish his head cracked open so he picked up his head and held him for the last few minutes of his life, Since then it has taken the police and the courts 4 months or so to be prepared for trial on his last day out in the open in court after he was sentenced he turned to his frineds mom and told her he was sorry he never meant to hurt her son!!! She accepted him for what happend!! Every one still has mixed emotions about the whole thing, but if any street racing is going on out at what they call Rail Head. Every one races one way and one way only! And some peeps pay their respect to to 19yr old who was allways in on a good race.. We all know that in Colorado getting a normal ticket sucks but for racing and not on a track its not a pretty ticket!! lookin at a few yr's walkin to work!! Thanks for anyone who took the time to read this story this is based on a true story if anyone wants to know! Sincerly Branden SHANE: R.I.P. you will live on in Grand Junction! Racer4life 09-26-2001, 02:19 AM Street racing is dangerous but if youy do it late at night in the middle of no where and you are careful about what you do you will usally be all right:sun: Trigger351 09-26-2001, 05:28 AM All racing is dangerous, thats why they build race tracks. Yes you can still be killed at the track but no one races with faulty equipment due to scrutineering, and there is always an ambulance and fire crew in attendance. :smoka: primera man 09-26-2001, 06:27 AM Originally posted by Trigger351 All racing is dangerous, thats why they build race tracks. DVSNCYNIKL 09-26-2001, 10:09 AM Originally posted by primera man If ya gonna drag race, dont be a fool and take it to a drag strip for everyone's saftey.....end of story. Thank you Doc :) :) Blue93G20 09-26-2001, 05:42 PM thats some sick ass stuff....if you must street race common people don't weave through traffic, no residentail areas, no school zones and remeber it might not be you ass that ends up dead....that link is gross...i'm not saying i don't street race but i try to be smart about it..... :eek2: i think i'm scared for life. kris 09-26-2001, 06:20 PM Originally posted by primera man If ya gonna drag race, dont be a fool and take it to a drag strip for everyone's saftey.....end of story. They way this run-on sentance looks, could be taken the wrong way. :D Racing, speed, they all do not kill people. People kill people. ;) Stupidity and racing is what casues problems. ElectronLude 09-26-2001, 10:10 PM I kinda agree about street racing being dangerous. But its only dangerous if the person doesnt know what they're doing. Street races should be at night or when you're certain that no one is around. Pretty much I do evrey SAFE chance that I get. Those pictures dont scare me becasue I know that the same shit can happen to me when Im driving down the street minding my own business someone could run a red and t-bone me. I maybe stupid but I dont trip about dying when I race. Because I know mine and my car's limits so I know how to handle it... Trigger351 09-27-2001, 01:13 AM You may know your limitations, but what if the guy you are racing doesnt know his? It could be you, your mate or girlfriend that cops it:smoka: primera man 09-27-2001, 05:17 AM Originally posted by ElectronLude I maybe stupid but I dont trip about dying when I race. It's probably the same thing the guy said in the pictures too   DVSNCYNIKL 09-27-2001, 08:14 AM Let's put this in perspective. When it comes to street racing, everyone says they know what they are doing. While I'm sure we have all done it at some point in our lives, we lived through it and enjoyed the thrill. Now, the fact that remains unattended is the fact that you don't know what the other person's capabilities are. If you're racing and going 100mph, it doesn't take a big hit or something to that effect to make you lose control of your car and wipe out a whole entire block or so. The thing that has to be considered is that you never know. While I am sure we are all aware of our surroundings when we race, just keep in mind that no matter how prepared you may be, someone out there will prove you wrong and God forbid, cause harm on to you or others. One! Racer4life 09-27-2001, 03:36 PM I have to agree with elcotrolube. I also go by a saying "death is certain, life is not" so I think you should enjoy your life but that does not mean you do not have to be safe for yourself and also others. :licker: Learner 09-27-2001, 10:40 PM "nature makes no errors, right and wrong are human categories" SkYLiNeFrEaK 10-05-2001, 06:40 PM Good God, Have you guys seen those pics? Street racing is illegal, and I'm glad that there has been a crackdown on import cars with massive amounts of mods. Although, i some day hope to own a SHOW CAR, not a street racing Prelude. I've driven 100mph on a str8t back road where i live. I know what I'm doing, but i mean, god, it makes me sick to my stomach looking at how badly mangled up that one dude got from that accident in that pic... :apuke: :help: cefiroman 10-18-2001, 09:38 PM I second u Trigger. And Primera I second u too RiceRocket 10-19-2001, 12:34 AM Another wasted life from street racing... tsk tsk tsk. i wonder what the other guy in the jetta was thinking after this all happened... must've been freaked out and will never race again. Miltown_Racer 10-19-2001, 01:06 PM gave me a second thought about racing...it's friday and usually this is when it all happens...i'll call it a quit....thanx for the infos y'all... 2002G20Racer 10-20-2001, 02:17 AM Just dont do anything real stupid and be very careful! I would never race during in bad conditions or on a very busy street, thats just stupid. But if some car rolls up and starts revin on me, it looks to be safe and I know that theres not much danger from there to the next stop light I will go. Theres no resisting the rush of street racing... cefiroman 10-23-2001, 11:28 PM IF THIS IS ABOUT THE WHO THING IN HAWAII!! THEN ANYBODY WHO HAS BEEN THERE OR SEEN RACEING THEIR WOULD KNOW THAT THEY RACE ON THE MAIN HWY WITCH IS 100MI FRON ONE END OF HAWAII TO THE OTHER... SO I DONT KNOW OF ANYWHERE ELSE THEY HAVE TO RACE.... MAYBE DOCKS????:smoker2: GTS-4 Ben 10-24-2001, 08:38 AM If I ever Street race, if I havn't beaten them by 2nd gear then I stop.. that is over 60mph and trouble.. On the highway, it is different... if it is something I really want to beat.. then it's on... if I am getting beaten Slow down. I try to take it easy.. but EVO's spur me on and get me pumping.. I had a go with an EVO 1, it was damn close.. heavy traffic.. Afterwards I was being chased by people on cellphones.. I think it is bad to streetrace, but out on a deserted country road.. not so bad. I do love to do it legelly though. But so many people dont come.. cefiroman 10-25-2001, 12:58 AM cell phones damn man u look'n for trouble and dont even know it...haha just jk'n...;) :alien:  :eshooter: GTS-4 Ben 10-25-2001, 10:36 AM Yeah I was a bit worried. The guy was behind me readng my plate (it is hard to read). So I pulled out of the traffic. He followed, so I nailed it in and out of traffic and got away from him. I looked at him though, he was some pathetic old bastard.. couldn't look back. I try not to do that to often.. if a cop saw it.. i would be in jail. Psman32@af 10-30-2001, 12:11 AM I don't race on busy streets. I'm usually the one who gives the challenge, but its just to ricers and other people who think they have fast cars. I would never do it where im going like 60 in a 40 and theres heavy traffic where id need to be weaving in and out of traffic. also i agree with gts-4ben, i usually stop at 60 cause by then the people know that they aren't fast. There has only be one time where i went more than that in a street race, but this was was late on a divided highway with no other cars besides me and the 3.2 TL. caleb56 05-08-2004, 05:16 PM Street racing is always dangerous it should not be, but we are all guilty of it once in our life. Just remember it only takes one time. carrrnuttt 05-08-2004, 05:35 PM OLD THREAD ALERT No dead thread older than 3 months will be resurrected in here.
