I have a 1997 Yukon GT, and recently purchased the newer 1998 model power seats with the heat option. The driver's side seat was a perfect fit, however the passenger seat bracket is not compatible. For some reason, the 2-door full size Tahoe/Yukons were not offered with full power on the passenger-side (maybe due to rear seat access). I'm trying to adapt the new seat to fit; appreciate suggestions on bracket/wiring/experience/etc. Thanks!

Hi,
the best thing to do is to go back to where you got the seats and get the rest of what you need:
the bracket and the various electrical pieces like wiring harness(es), switch(es), relay(s)...
This is not an easy drop-in but a retrofit with parts from another vehicle.

The bracket that came with the new seat appears to be meant for the 4-door model (shorter track) which does not have the 'easy entry' slide-forward feature. So my biggest problem is finding a way to attach the new seat to the floor, preferably in such a way that rear passengers can get in/out easily.

OK,
now I get it.
My 95 Suburban had forward folding seatbacks in the front, without the slide, as it was a long 4 door. The power driver's seat as well as the manual passenger seat. The only thing powered was the seat cushion, the backrest for some strange reason was fixed. It still is in the new body style.
May be your new seat has that folding back, too.
I don't know, if you can combine the 2 brackets.
The sliding forward base and the fixed base for the power seat seem to be at opposite ends.
Is folding the seatback forward and sliding the seat forward enough to get by?
What have you found out about the wiring retrofit work?

In my 2-door the driver seat does not travel/fold forward like the passenger seat (which only has power lumbar); the new passenger seat mechanism looks just like the driver seat. On the wiring side, because my original driver's seat had 6-way power, it was easy to ID the one extra power lead that goes to the heater element--I figure to tap into the fuse block for power.

The passenger side has a different wiring harness from the driver side; I think that's because there is a circuit in the '98 model that prevents the heater from activating unless the passenger seatbelt is engaged. I'm not very optimistic that I can make the new seat work on the passenger side since I don't think that I want to give up the easy back seat access. If I do go forward and replace that seat I will use the existing lumbar power leaad, and will run one or two power leads to the motors/heater and possibly a new ground lead (depending on what I find out about power req's); think I would eliminate the seat-belt interlock.

Regards,
John
