I'm looking at getting a programer here sometime soon for my 2002 silverado. I've heard alot about the superchips programer but very little about the hypertech. I've also heard of a Nelson Tuner but I can't find anything about it on the net. Can someone please help me choose. thanks

I have a hypertech which works ok. I am, personally, going to switch to the nelson because of the increased programability.

Some people say that superchips seems to give a couple extra horses, but is basically identical in performance to hypertech. If you plan on or have modded your truck, then Nelson seems the best bet.

What he said. :) It all really depends on where you want to take the truck in the future. I've had both Hypertech and Superchips, and my personal experiences showed the Superchips had alittle more aggresive tune. Both of them worked as advertised and gave some great increase in performance. A nelson tune is the way to go if you want maximum performance, and plan on adding more performance features to your truck. Allen is a great guy to deal with, and he really knows his tunes. The way it works is, he sends you a pcm tuned to your specifications and maximum performance, then when you get the pcm, you do the quick swap, and send your pcm back in to him. All upgrades are free, minus the shipping(cheap). This is the way to go if you want the maximum tune for your money.

Hypertech sucks. I had one, and frankly, after buying it felt I had wasted my money. I purchased a Nelson tune about 4 months ago and it was worth every penny!

heh HyperPING...thats exactly what mine did too. Made my valves rattle like hell. The option of changing for bigger tires was nice though.

Hey guys -
How can I tell if someone used a hypertech (or other tuner) on my truck prior to me buying it used?

Thanks!
Is there a way to clear it without the hand held unit? The reason I ask is that my 2000 Z71 seems much quicker and has a much better/more solid feel to the shifting - however I think I have heard some slight valve clatter. I wouldn't have expected a thing until I read this thread. I would much rather have bone stock and longevity over higher performance.

Thanks again...

Looking for a programmer, look no further. I develop in over 8 different languages.

What would you like to design?

Man, I am such a smart a$$.

Just kidding.

I tried the JET CHIP , HYPER TECH and both hooked up at the same time.

I like the HYPER TECH better by it self.

JET made the engine run a little to rich all the time.

HYPERTECH made it run lean a little bit I think it is more that the timing is advance a lot more in the higher rpm range. I can hear a little pinging.

Hope that helps.

If you are looking for HP, then why the big rims with CHROME?
Shouldn't you have gone with a lite weight 16" ? Unless you have giant BREMBO brakes.

I never understood why someone would worry about HP when they add about 20 lbs to each wheel?

In racing you need bigger rims for bigger brakes. The smaller the rim the lighter it is.

1) I got a great deal on these wheels.
2) I don't go out and race my truck every weekend
3) I like the look of the larger wheels
4) The tune does more than add HP, it increases functionality
5) The mods I have done to my truck, thus far, have either had no effect on gas mileage or have improved gas mileage.

I understand that you don't care for the larger wheels, as I have read in serveral of your past posts, but I do. My truck is not a daily driver. It is not a race truck. I want it simply to run strong and look great, inside and out, for years to come. I have a car specifically for work/errands that takes all the beating. It's the one that I worry about gas mileage.

I hope this clears some stuff up for you.

Well hell that makes sense. I was wonder if there was a reason. The reason is there is no reason.

Good point.

Thanks.

Actually the only thing I really do not like is the spinners.
Worst yet was these ones I saw on a corvette. I saw some on a 18 wheeler, and it was not too bad.

Do not forget RED tint. Purple rain Homo.

Are you seriously taking this to name calling? :disappoin

You asked my reasons, I gave them to you. What are your reasons for being a Dick?

Where did I call you a name. I am agreeing with you. If you get wheels for a deal that is a very good reason.

I was saying that I do not like red tint at all. That is all.

Wow I guess I will lose no matter what on this one.

Looked like in the last line of your previous post you were calling me a Homo. If I was mistaken in reading that, I'm glad.

No, I was calling people that have red tint on their windows - Prince / Purple Rain / Homo. That is all.

It was kind of a joke.

When was the last time you saw anybody with red tint? If you did you might be in the wrong neighborhood?

Purple Rain ..... I kinda like that song. I guess me and my bandmates are homos too! lol
As gay as the song is, it'll sure get the panties flyin'!

Anyhow, just buy a Nelson Tune. No other will compare. My case is closed.
