1996 Chevy Corsica 3.1L V6
Any suggestions my main problem is that the clutch plate is contacting the pulley even though I have the AC unit unplug completely. Why would this be it seems as if the magnet or something is pulling it towards the pulley not enough to lock the clutch to the pulley but enough to move the clutch and make a enormous noise and create metal shaving. Why would this happen??

not sure but i think u can get a shorter belt and a couople of idlers to take the compressor right out of the system. The clutch is probably let go and jammed up to cause your shavings. Just look at a non ac car and copy that set up.

1996 doesn't show a belt for a NON-AC corsica? I know I can remove the noise by taking off the front clutch plate...but then I will have no AC this summer? Just want to find the problem?

you can get a rebuild kit for the clutches on those. They are around 150. Not to bad a job to put in. Just the pully and clutch comes apart not the back end. Sorry i miss understood what u wanted.

But what is causing it to be pulled toward the pulley if there is no power to the magnet?
