Winter ProblemsInsurrection 01-14-2005, 12:35 PM Just moved from SC to PA and my 240 is really hating it. Left it parked for a day while it snowed ...now it wont seem to hold a charge. Every time I let it sit over night its dead the next day. Woundering if this is maybe an Alternater problem. Starter is fine and never had this problem with it before the move. Any advice would great. D-Bo 01-14-2005, 12:50 PM sounds like an alternator problem.. something might have happened on the drive there.. check your alternator charges, see how much voltage is moving.. also, check the belts.. if one is loose (the alternator belt) then it won't let the alternator function properly.. Insurrection 01-14-2005, 01:16 PM Thanks for the reply, I look into that this weekend. Belts are good just had them replaced. But then that maybe the problem if they didnt tighten them well enough D-Bo 01-14-2005, 01:58 PM yeah my buddy had that problem with his celica.. he replaced the alternator but didn't put the pulley back on properly.. turns out he was driving around for 2 days with an alternator pulley that was dangling from the bolt.. what happened was he didn't put a washer on before the nut so nothing was being held in place.. just go over everything meticulously and you never know, it might be something simple.. Chuki_breath 01-14-2005, 06:46 PM holy websters dictionary, ahh now i understand meticulously. zacremacle 01-14-2005, 07:28 PM it could be just the battery they like to go bad in cold and hot weather if it goes dead just sitting there it isint an alternator. D-Bo 01-14-2005, 08:21 PM i didn't totally use it properly.. but it applies.. means in detail, not missing a thing kingcarm 01-15-2005, 01:14 AM it could be just the battery they like to go bad in cold and hot weather if it goes dead just sitting there it isint an alternator. I agree...try a new battery first....its cheaper and just pop it in. If it turns out not to be the battery...keep your reciept and bring it back to where you bought it and get your money back. logik23 01-15-2005, 01:36 AM Don't even need a new baterry, just stick your old one on a slow charge all night, it'll be as a good as new. Chuki_breath 01-15-2005, 12:53 PM not necisarily (im no spelling b champ), if the battery cant hold a charge then its basically trash or needs to be refurbished. just unhook the battery every night when you know its fully charged. If its still dead when you hook it back up, the battery is done. logik23 01-15-2005, 01:48 PM Make sure it's not dry. Insurrection 01-15-2005, 06:14 PM Thanks for all the feed back guys, Ill be tryin to see what works this sunday. I`ll fill ya in on what the cause is should I find it. I wanted the opinion of some fellow 240 owners before I took it to the shop. Thanks again vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
