So my sisters boyfriend has this eclipse that i have wanted since before i had my licence. He offered to sell it to me for $6450.00. The car is immaculate and he is the 1st and only owner. The car is a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse gst spider. Its dark green with a new tan top and tan leather interior.The car only has 46,000 miles on it and the only aftermarket things on the car are a full alpine sterio i mean everything headunit which is a Alpine CDA-9831 dash, door and rear deck speakers,which are also aftermarket alpine.A multi channel amp which is an alpine MRV-F450. And 2 alpine 10" type r SWR-1041D subs mounted in the trunk the only aftermarket thing besides the sterio is the altezza tail lights witch i hate anyways.....
Buying this would mean i wouldnt have a s13 anymore :frown:

i wouldnt do it. If it was a GSX i would. It doesnt sound like it is worth it. Im not really into stereo stuff though....

DUDE!!!!! its a fucking spyder...are you a female???? if so then buy it. Keep the damn s13. THis is a no brainer. Well to me it is anyway.....do what ever the hell you want. But for that kind of money your s13 would be way cooler, faster, and more satisfying than a god damn eclipse with that weak ass circuit city stereo.

Save the money, get a nice s13 between 2k-3k and turbo it, you can get something good for the rest of the money.

i was driving a 96' eclipes spyder when i was living in NC..and personally....#1 there kinda slow (hella slower than my SR20 anyhow) #2 they are very prone to breaking around 80,xxx miles...the one i was driving actually broke at about 67,xxx miles. I personally dont think there very comfortable to drive in either...not alot of room (for driver or any passengers) Tops usually make alot of noise...and malfuction. i dont know...keep the s13...eclipes suck...it FWD too...who the hell wants that...btw sell the mustang and do some more cool shit to the s13. my 2 cents

Is the GST the AWD turbo model? If so, see if you can buy it then sell it for more then 6500$ which you probably can easily, but keep the S13 no matter what, that's what I would do, actually, I'd sell the Stang and buy the Eclipse and keep the S13 and Eclipse and so what if it's a convertable? Drop-tops kick ass, I'd kill for an S13 convert! And the Eclipse Spiders have really nice lines, I think they look good. ANyways, if you have wanted this car forever then give it a lot of thought before you say no, but give it alot of thought before you sell your S13. Cause that S13 looks sick man.

Not enough options, but if I was in the same position, I would park the S13 and daily drive the mustang. Then sink your money into the S13.

isnt the GST the FWD turbo model? The GSX is the awd turbo.

oh and IMO dont get the spyder, convertibles are cool but think what would happen if u would flip over, when it rains, if theres a malfunction like someone juz said, and i think the gst pulls better than the gsx if its properly tuned, but isnt the engine on '94 models USDM? What i mean is that japan doesnt make the motor.

its freaking spyder man. a GST already weights 3000 lbs, so with the rage top its goin to weight around 3200 lbs. the car is freaking pig. not to mention that its chassis's ridgity has been severely compromised by having its roof choped off. this is not a S2K or a MR2 t-top where it has tons of chassis re enforcement. its a DSM.

if it was a hardtop GS-T i would consider. but Eclipses are horrible. they have very awkward driving position, and you can't see out of them for shit. also stock GS-T's are slow. esp ones that weights 200 lbs more then standard ones.

i would just turbo my S13 and call it quits. a turboed 240 has waay more presence then a rag top DSM. or most DSM's in general.

and for a final notion...the gst is the FWD...and TatII pretty much said it all...i would consider an AWD but...considering the weight, slowness, and it being FWD i personally think the car sucks (i can say that legitly becuase ive driven one for months at a time)

you'd have much more fun with the 240

Ok so i talked hime down to $6000.00 actually my sister did for me :biggrin: so i went and took out a loan. One of my friends was looking for somthing as a daily driver that would be cheaper on gas than his mustang cobra so i sold him my mustang for $2500 but i had no choice but to have another car because my s13 has no engine or transmission right now( Making way for my sr20 witch will be in on the 19th) :grinyes: so i won both ways i am just gonna drive the eclipse as a daily driver......FOR NOW AT LEAST :naughty:

Uhhhh...okay...good luck with the spyder...but seriously, I think you should use it as a daily driver and save up some money for mods for the 240. I would agree with most of these posts, though. The Eclipse is FWD and it just plain sucks. It's a chick car really, except for MAYBE the GSX. Eclipses just kinda suck...

Yeah, good choice man, that's exaclt what I would have done, get a daily driver to keep your S13 in good shape.
