Anyone know if there are any real silvias in the united states?
Ive seen some ads on yahoo autos for them but these are more likely clones right?

Yeah there is a real Silvia in the states, in Orlando FL owned by a cool guy called Mark Mazurowski... it was also featured in Super Street, I ~believe~ the Dec 99 issue, after he was at Nopi with the rest of us in what was then Team Nismo. It's a great article, tells the whole story about how he slipped it into the states and everything he did to it although much has changed since then. He had an incredibly powerful CA18DET in it, then was going to put in an RB25 w/ RB26 internals but I heard it didn't go so well, so it might have the CA back in.... which would be just fine as it was making nearly 400hp at the time, and won the dyno competition in it's class at Nopi that year!

umm you can get them, but my friend has been tryin to find a loophole to the US laws on importing. They say it will cost about 17000 to bring a skyline from japan because it has to go to a shop where they make everything up to US specifications and bla bla bla... But the funny thing is that in the county we live in we dont even have smog tests, much less inspectors that care. About the only way to bring one here w/o the US specs is to use it for race/show only, and it cant be registersed for the street,
so basically its pretty dang hard

the silvia has a front mounted intercooler doesn't it?

i heard that cars have to have a certain distance between the intercooler and the front bumper thats what the guy at subaru said cuz the WRX has them mounted above the engine

It has an I/C but it is mich like the ones on the 300ZXTT (minus 1 though). It sits to the right (looking from the front of the car), so I dont belive that it is a result of crash tests that we dont have it here. However that is the case with the Evo, the FMIC wont pass crash test. The IC on the EJ20 was just desined that way, subaru engineers thought that the top mounting would get better air, and it does. But when the car is hevily modified the heat soak from a hot as hell turbo, among other things, kills the IC's effictiveness. The EJ20 IC is also on the top for a weight standpoint, the worst thing to have is a big heavy IC hanging in front of the front wheels, thats from a handling standpint. The FMIC is the beat location for coolinf, thus =ing more power.

Just curious, what internals were used? 'cause right off the bat it sounds a little suspect, seeing as they are two different sizes of engines... Unless the RBb25 was bored AND stroked :D
