i purchased my first car a little over a month ago, its a 94 probe se and all it has been is problems...
i have replced my fanbelt, alternator, battery, spark plugs, thurmusdat(bc it was over heating that stoped it)
reset my computer, its had a tune up and they changed the oil and tranny fluid also someone told me that its stuck in 2nd or it starts in second
now the biggest problems are that my check engine light is always on, and when i start my car it usually works well for the first 10 minutes then when i stop and i beging to go again it takes a while to start moving sometimes it backfires and it has a problem changing geres i always have to lift my foot off the gas to change it like its standard but its not also sometimes it stops reversing and my heat stopped aswell... im 17 a girl and knows nothing about cars with no help from no one, if anyone has some ideas that could help me let me know plzzz

if its the 2.0 its more than likely the timing if you already checked that your maf might be junk i have had both of these problems but i also had my motor out twice and added a turbo to my 2.0 probe if not post again

Starts in second - I assume it's an automatic?

Based on what you describe, it's possible that the computer may have overheated along with the rest of the engine - it happens with some Mazdas (the engine, etc. in the Probe was made by Mazda). It can be replaced, but it probably won't be cheap.

hey, if i were you i would look at getting a new car... because this one looks like it is, and has been, a money pit. i was 16 when i got my probe, and it has cost me alot of grief, but it's still good. i hope you have a reliable mechanic, because i was screwed out of so much money, then i just turned to doing most of the work myself (it's not as hard as it seems) any way good luck!
