And do you know how to install them on the trails?
I have heard about Tie Rods but would have no clue how- to fix them.

Just wanted to get a list of pratical parts to keep handy.

thanks

The only spare parts I carry are a fan belt and an oil filter. After I install my Nissan Motorsport t-bars, I'll keep the old ones in the truck for a week or two, just incase I manage to botch the install in some way.

PNWX did an intersting thing on their Moab trip.

They picked up a lot of parts from Nissan for the trip, then everyone chipped in on the restocking fee when they got back and returned the unused parts.

One guy blew out 2 shocks on the trip, but I won't even go into that one.

I guess it depends on where you're going.

The rear lower shock mount is vulnerable. If you're on rocky terrain that's probably good to have. New U-bolts too.

A spare hub.

I always have a spare tow hook.

Maybe Mosi will post the list we came up with.

The parts list would be a great idea to have as a checklist if a group is planning a trip.

The PNWX idea for parts is also smart. Better to be prepared.

I don't think we did the parts thing at Moab. Either that or I owe Mosi some money!

I did supply a shock for our shock killer on that trip.

The Tie rod would be easy to replace, but impossible to adjust on the trail. You would certainly need a serious alignment after replacing one.

I think it would be a good idea if you were going on a long trip. Moab doesn't have a Nissan dealership, so if you have parts go out, you're gonna be on the side of the road, or slickrock.

ChrisC bent an alloy rim and lost tire pressure. He had to get one drop shipped to Moab.

Pikachu broke a tie rod and had to leave his truck in the desert until FSR could weld it back together at camp that night.

i carry all the belts the truck needs and tie rods at the moment. plus i carry the ESM with me in my laptop to figure things out and narrow things down to what i need to replace. Pikachu came up with a list of items we would need for a trip as well, i am digging through email to try and find that list.

I am also going to carry one of the load leaves i removed from my spring packs in case i brake the add-a-leaf. Carlton broke 2 sets of them, but those were the fabtech ones not rancho. but i'd rather be a bit paranoid then stuck with the part at home. <shrug>

I have thought about bringing my laptop, but I've been concerned about all the bouncing, and vibration that comes with offroading.

Do you have it in a good case?

yeah, i have one of the targus padded backpacks. and i leave it on the floor on the passenger side front seat usually. cause otherwise it would fly around and end up on the floor anyhow. :)

If you bring a pickle fork :)

You can also write down your current tie rod length before hand, and keep it in the glove box. When you replace a bent one, simply adjust the new one to the right length, and it should get you through the trail and home without too many handling problems.

good point. hadn't thought of that one. i need to go do that for mine. heck we should all do that so if a buddy is carrying a tie rod and you are not, then you still have an out.

Carlton broke 2 ProComp AAL's and then switched to Fabtech, which as far as I know only makes 2WD stuff.
