Hey everyone!

I'm an auto repair Newbie but I hope that you guys/gals can help me out!

My E Brake dash light of my Acura Legend '92 L Sedan stays on when my E Brake is not engaged. Then the manual override for the ABS kicks in and shuts off my ABS and turns on the ABS light after a 1/4 mile.
The E Brake light used to turn off when I lifted the E Brake and put it down again but now it stays lit and is even on when I start the car.

I was hoping if anyone can help me out with this! Any diagrams that anyone can point me to or guidelines to follow! It's getting icy around here and I don't want to slide all over the place!

Thanks in advance!!

Did anyone ever reply? My hubby's car is doing the same thing and I am trying to find out what's going on. He loves his car, but we are dumping money into it like crazy. Would you let me know if you ever find an answer????

Thank you!

Typically when the e-brake light comes on, and the e-brake isn't up, the first and most common cause is that the brake fluid is low...as pads wear down, the brake pistons push the pads out further so they stay the same distance from the rotor. As the piston moves out, brake fluid takes its original place, and the level in the brake fluid reseviour goes down a bit...eventually it gets low enough that the sensor in there will notice and signals the dashboard light to turn on.
Check the brake fluid level, and if it is low, keep an eye on your brake pads as they are probably getting worn down and will eventually need to be replaced.

Other brake problems can cause the light to come on, so let us know if this isn't the case.
