I desperately need to know if my 2000 Chevy Tahoe Limited has a factory amplifier. And if it does, where might it be located?
Thanks for any and all info.
Mark
FYI, it has just the factory head unit and slave CD player.

Look under the front seats. If you have the low-end stereo, you may not have one, not sure.

I thought they just located the amplifier within the radio and/or CD unit itself, i.e. behind the dash.

Well the head unit in the dash has a bult in amp, but Chevy also has one for rear door speakers. Look under passenger front or under rear bench, passenger side. It will be a thin, black piece mounted into a tray.

If you have probs still I can send you some screen shots detiailing location up to '99 models.
