electricalBob450sl 01-11-2005, 10:51 AM 1979 450SL mercedes. I put a new battery in. I only drive the car about once a week, but when I go out the battery is dead. I recharge, and as long as I drive it every day (or start it) the batter stays charged. The alternator is good, but there is obviously a drain somewhere. could the ground or connection to the starter be bad? there is nothing on in the car. j_hef 01-11-2005, 10:45 PM connect a ammeter inline with the neg cable. pull fuses untill the drain goes away. check a wiring diagram to see if anything else could be drawing thats not fused. Tried the ampmeter. pulled each fuse. there is a 10 volt draw from somewhere that is not fused---the draw did not go away after pulling each fuse. j_hef 01-13-2005, 10:57 PM how do the grounds look? any corrosion? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
