Starting to notice this problem in my 93 lesabre limited. Vibrations can be heard in reverse and drive, when I give a little throttle vibrations disappear quickly. No vibrations during driving operation. Only notice at low speeds bellow 5mph. Specially at stop lights!! When switched in Neutrual or Park vibrations decrease. Any ideas? Car works perfect besides vibrations. Its becoming annoying. :screwy:

That might be caused by an engine misfire due to various reasons. What kind of mileage does your car have? When was the last time you changed your spark plugs/wires? More possible reasons for a vibration are coil(s) not sparking, bad motor or tranny mount(s).

I poped the hood and looked under there, and the cruise control module was vibrating heavily when car was in gear, I tightened bolts and that seemed to help;.

the buick has 230k on the dash. Runs like a champ, spark plugs and wires are good. Coil prob never changed, but car is not missing. Just vibrations when at stop. enough to vibrate the dash board inside. I did tighten the cruise control, but it looks like its mounted to part of the tranny. This did lessen the noise/vibration by 50%. Where are the tranny bolts located. Maybe I can see if those are loose also. The engine was replaced last yr with one with 60,000 miles. Original miles still on transmission. Old engine was a work horse. Till I got a oil change at Tire Kingdom. That same day the engine DIED!!!! I had 2 other machnics said they started the car with NO OIL in it. Still pursuiing legal suit.... I now do my own car work by myself, like changing oil, and trans filter and fluids.

In that case, the drivers side of the motor will have five bolts you can access, be about 18mm bolts, these mount the tranny to the motor, and it is very, very likely that they "came loose" on "accident", or something. One bolt you will probably not be able to access. It is only accessable from the passenger side of the car, with a ratchet extension that is the length of the engine, as it is essentially on backwards. The tranny mounts that mount it to the frame are accessible from under the car, near the 4 corners of the engine/tranny assembly throught the holes in the frame. I think those are 15mm nuts. Check that the mounts haven't broke at the rubber part as well, and that they are tightly bolted to the tranny and motor. Hope this helps.

Could a bad front transmission mount, cause these vibrations to occur? This one machnic looked at the car and the problem and said that its highly possible its the left front transmission mount..

when i give little throttle, the vibrations on the left drivers side of the engine dissapear. when i let idle the vibrations re-occur... vibrations also shake inside of the car...

machnic said the bad mount is not dampering the shock. to the other parts of the car, hense make it vibrate the cruise control module, which is mounted to the top of the tranny.

vibration is noticed in every single gear now.... but dissapers when i even touch the throttle... its becoming to get on my nerve, when im stoped at a light and the whole dash is vibrating, because of the cruise control module....

Any suggestions or comments?

buickmastermind...
some bolts were loose, 3 of them
1bolt looks missing...

all bollts were tightned.. vibrations seem to have a diffrent tone now...

the left front transmission mount has no rubber at all on it...
(metal2 metal) is what my home mechanic described it as....

he said its like resting a electric clipper machine on top of a metal table while its still on. It vibrates crazy

he says when i give it a little bit of throttle thats enough force to lock the mounts tight, but when let idle the mounts rest back on the frame, hense causing the vibration, only when im at stiop lights.....

I dont know the condition of the left back mount...

or which mount i should replace first, if that helps at all....

the engine mount looks just fine, it has its rubber on there.. the side of the engine that vibrates the most is the drivers side of the engine.. near the tranny side.. I priced mounts and they are like $40.00 a mount!!! Please help

If there is no rubber on it, then replace it. Leave the back mount until you know it is bad. You might want to do it yourself, as that is the easy one to replace. you want to get a jack under the motor (put a piece of wood on the jack head to protect the bottom of whatever sturdy part you chose to jack up) to get the wheight off the mount. Unbolt the mount, and put the new one on. Your mechanic should be able to do this without a problem, if you give him the parts. The junk yard should have a car with a mount that you can use-$15.
Also, I would be inquiring as to why the person(s) who swapped the motor out for you didn't tell you about it in the first place. Seems like they may have given you a bad mount on purpose, especially if the vibration was never there before. Great way of guarenteeing that your customers will be coming back...

I did replace the front left transmission mount. The vibrations are almost completelly gone. At a stop there is no more vibrations. Vibrations can still be heard before coming to a stop now. I am almost certain the back mount of the transmission is also bad. The vibrations have different tones since the front mount was changed. Change it took 90% of the noise away. But the back mount is now starting to sound like how the front mount sounded.

I jacked it up and put piece of wood between the jack and the transmission, then I changed the Front mount with out any problems, It took about 2-3 hours.

Once I get enought money I will buy a new back mount and replace that also.

The back mount will be more difficult to replace than the front because of limited space, but don't let that stop you. Good luck.

The back mount was extremely hard to remove.
Had to loosen the steering pinion and the A frames to wiggle it out.
Now my steering is not alligned.
The mount was bad; But after all of that still have vibrations.
Something has to be loose somewhere. I have to figure it out this week. Seems to be getting a little bit worst too.
Vibrations start when engine idle at around 800 RPM.
It also is more appearant when the AC is on, cause the AC clutch drops the RPM even more.

Please let me know if you have anymore suggestions about what I should do.

Everyone I talk to seems to be puzzled.

Would a worn out driver side Tie Rod end contribute to this problem?
