electronic rust protectorsleebson 01-09-2005, 08:03 AM Has anybody used a electronic rust protector on their 4x4, Having returned from N/Z, they used a product called rust eater- when fitted to the vehicle, it sent a small current through the steel - when fited on rubber - cross bond it with a eart wire. It sounds good - there is a similar product in the States, just looking for some feedback. It's funny they dont have such a kit readily available like they do for boats, sacrificial anodes(I think that's what they are called?) Strap a zinc block to a few areas of metal to keep the rust away. Underground pipelines often have zinc anodes on them as well to ward off corrosion. Interesting idea! G/luck Joel 95.5 Rodeo 01-13-2005, 01:03 PM I remember seeing them in the JC Whitney catalog years ago and they are still being made: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/s-10101/p-5/c-10101 I don't know how well they work. If it keeps the rust away, ELECTRO-SHIELD™ would be worth the expense. Dale vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
