engine noise fix for dvd audio?attackdog 01-09-2005, 03:03 AM Hello all. I recently installed a DVD System in my 01 Yukon. I used a wireless FM Modulator and have bad engine noise when I play DVD's. Does anyone have a fix for this problem or know another way to play audio from my DVD through my factory stuff? I tried to use the PAC GM bypass but it did not work. Thanks to everyone in advanced. tonytone 01-10-2005, 01:15 PM Hello all. I recently installed a DVD System in my 01 Yukon. I used a wireless FM Modulator and have bad engine noise when I play DVD's. I assume you used the correct PAC GM module for your particular model-year truck, as there are at least two different modules that do what you want to do (play aftermarket head unit audio through factory sound system)--one is for earlier-model year NBS factory audio setups, the other is for later-model year factory audio setups. Double-check ground power, and audio wire/cable connections and routing for both the PAC and your DVD unit. FWIW--I have a Pioneer AVP-P6600DVD head unit and am listening to audio output through my factory audio via a PAC AAC-GM12, and there is practically no engine noise whatsoever... attackdog 01-10-2005, 08:06 PM Thanks for the reply. Is your PAC GM module plugged into the back of your factory radio? When I plugged mine into the back of the radio, it blew a fuse and made my subwoofers go crazy. I replaced the fuse and tried to plug it in between the slave unit and it still did not work. Thanks for the help. tonytone 01-11-2005, 12:42 PM My PAC module is inline between the factory head unit and the factory wire harness that runs from the vehicle to the factory head unit. It almost sounds like you either have the wrong PAC module or there's something wrong with it. Are you using the AAI-GM9 module? If so, then it requires the existance of a factory slave unit that uses a 9-pin connector (e.g., external factory CD changer or cassette player) for it to work correctly. attackdog 01-11-2005, 10:14 PM I just went and got a new fm modulator ( got rid of the wireless one ) and it works great. Thanks for all the replies. tonytone 01-12-2005, 12:40 PM I just went and got a new fm modulator ( got rid of the wireless one ) and it works great. Thanks for all the replies. Aren't all portable FM modulators more or less wireless--other than the audio input cables and perhaps wires for power/ground? attackdog 02-26-2005, 12:26 AM The wireless modulator only had power and ground and RCA lines. It did not plug directly into the antenna. I got rid of all engine noise when I replaced the wireless one. I should know better because I have the "wireless" one for my iPod... :banghead: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
