WELL IT DEPEND ON THE DRIVER. YOU CAN DO AS FAST AS YOU CAN FOR EACH GEAR IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DONT GET A SPEEDING TICKET.

Look at my thread, and you will be enlightened about SOHC.

No, wait, I blew it up the day after I took the pic.

Drive it like a grandma.

im guessing you want to rev to the max rpm in each gear for speed shifting? well the easiest thing to do is of course listen to the engine and feel the car.. then try some stuff out.. try going up to 20 mph and see if it can do it.. and if the car is loud then you know to shift at 20 and so on... hope that helps..

Yeh but the car has nice exhaust, makes the car louder then it realy is. But i can just shift listening to the car, its just nice to know that limits of your car.

Probably 25/45 ratio.

My hatch has the CX tranny in it so it's 45/65/125/? for me.

if yours is like mine it'll say in the manuel.

dxs have kinda long gears.

first gear usually tops out at 33 mph, 2nd gear at 68, aand third im not sure about. and "prid3_pain"- on my b16 i coul shift from 1st to fifth gears without the clutch doing speed shifting or whatever as long as the rpms are between 4-5k. just ease the shifter really gently and after a few tries youll figure it out.
I used to drive with my left foot out the window so people would think I was rollin in an automatic del sol, therefore an si at best, but then i would sit down and race them and beat the panties off them cause b16s only came with manual tranny. :ŹD

hmm.... why dont you just go buy a cheap 5in tach for like $35.. that way u dont risk blowing you motor "guessing" when u should shift

OH MY GOD MY CAPS LOCK BUTTON IS STUCK!

And I second the cheap tach idea. Its the only way to know for sure without just going and seeing when your rev limit kicks in. Once you find it one time, your done.

I bought myself a cluster with a tach (I have a civic DX) works great. I have had the rpm limiter kick in several times before I got the tachometer. 215,000 miles later no engine problem, not even a drop of oil.

ive got it down to a science

redline~6600
1st gear - 1k~5mph
2nd gear - 1k~10mph
3rd gear - 1k~15mph
4th gear - 1k~20mph
5th gear - 1k~25mph

for those of you with a y7 tranny, test it out. its pretty accurate.

I do not understand 97CivicX. Why do you list the gears when at 1000 rpm?

97CivicX

im saying each 1000rpm is however more mph

so lets say in 2nd gear, 1000rpm is 10mph, 2000rpm is 20mph, and 6500rpm is 65mph. get it?

1st----3.250---0000/6800---34.8mph
2nd---1.761---3685/6800---64.3mph
3rd----1.172---4526/6800---96.9mph
4th----0.909---5274/6800---124.5mph
5th----0.702---5251/6800---161.3mph
just as simple as that

I will give it a try and see. I will pass up on the 6500 = 65mph though.
