I have a 92 Ford Explorer. I have notticed some newer models - mid to late 90's? - (I think the Eddie Bauers, not sure of others) have 4 Wheel Disc Breaks. Would It be pretty much a bolt on swap to conver my rear drums to discs?

The Exploreres with 4 Wheel Disc breaks - Are their front Break's better then mine?

I am not looking to have better breaking in this vehicle for performance, but rather safety.

Thanks in advance to those who view / reply...

Really not to excited over rear disk brakes. They don't seem to have the same abilities as drums. Drums don't heat up near as much as disks do and have a whole lot less brake fade. I have a 92 EXP 4X4 5spd manual. I noticed reduced braking ability to the point of being scared I wouldn't make it back home. After a little investigation and testing found only pass rear brake working. Seems anti-lock unit has regular steel parts in it. Heat, age, and moisture caused these parts to rust thereby clogging the unit's valves. Was not going to spend that kind of money on replacement with same parts in it. Got mad and cut unit out and unioned line back together. Braking ability changed remarkably. After 3 years it will still make you kiss the windshield if not wearing seltbelts.
