Hi, I have an '01 Sierra 1500 and I know that it is an 8-cyl. However, I am unsure of the liters and HP. What were the different engines available in '01?

Best regards,

Your truck may have markings on the engine somewere possibly such as vortec 4800 , which is the 4.8 liter and the 5300 is the 5.3, so on and so on. If you can not find anything like that , it is as simple as getting the V.I.N # and calling a GM dealership and they will be able to tell you what kind of engine you have.

The 8th character in VIN =
V... 4.8 V8
U... 6.0 V8
T... 5.3 V8
W...4.3 V6

On the bottom side of hood or on rad support there is a white tag which will tell you engine size in liters, spark plug gap, timing specs etc.
