non v-tec to v-tec93 lx sedan 01-08-2005, 06:32 AM what's up everyone first time afer but hope to meet alot of tuners, racers, wrench-heads, etc. But, I was at a shop and overheard a convo between the employee and a customer. The cust wanted to get a v-tec engine and the emp said that instead of getting a whole new engine the shop will put some type of software or something to make the non v-tec engine behave like a v-tec engine. Now to my question I thought the tec and non-tec engines had different camshafts the v-tec had more lobes on the shaft so when the v-tec kicks in you can get more out of the engine? I'm not sure if that's right or maybe I heard it wrong. corrections gladly accepted. :banghead: CBFryman 01-08-2005, 12:01 PM Go to Cars In General > Engineering/Technical > How V-TEC Works. Or go to Howstuffworks.com. You will find out very soon that it takes more than just an ECU program to make V-tec work. CivRacer95 01-08-2005, 12:10 PM Or go to my other hang out in these forums.
