Help, please

My son's Clio 1.2 16v dynamique will not start. The starter solenoid clicks, but the motor does not spin. The motor has been tested off the car and works fine. All electrical connections, earth and battery are perfect. the fuel pump starts when the ignition is switched on. All electrics (doors,windows etc work OK when ignition is switched on). Could it be the immobiliser as I have heard that these can be probelmatic

in what way did you test the starter motor?does it make any attempt to turn the engine?
check when you turn the key in the ignition that the red light on the dash dissapears as if it stays on this will indicate an immobiliser fault/activated

Ok. Took motor off car and stood it on bench. Connected battery to terminals, turns OK.
Immobiliser light stayed "on" when ignition swithed on. Since battery has been changed, it now goes out.

Has been starting OK ever since

ok glad you got it sorted.hope renault coughed up for the battery i would expect at least 60k out of one.
