You have a '97 altima. KBB private seller value with 96k miles (12k/yr for 8 yrs) is about $3000. To get a turbo that would fit an altima, if they even make them, would run you another $3500ish (not including labor, if you don't install it yourself). Vehicles that don't come turbo stock are more expensive to upgrade. If you're looking to get a pretty quick car that's got turbo, sell the car you have now (maybe you can get $5-6k with "a lot done to it" out of some kid, because that's all who'd want it), and look into buying an 02 WRX or SRT-4. A WRX is 227 awhp and will get to 60 in about 5.6 secs, while the SRT-4 is 215/230 fwhp (depends on the model year you purchase) and will get to 60 in about 5.8 secs. Instead of putting money into an older vehicle, buy a stock newer car and possibly work on that, but there really isn't a need to. I've got a 5-spd '03 wrx and it's quick enough. The turbo doesn't kick in until 3500 rpm, but when it does, it's quite a trip lol. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Both options will cost about the same as the value of your car. The sr20det from a bluebird will drop in with some work, or you could make a turbo fit from a kit for the 240sx (ka24de).

Yeah, it would be easier to start with a different car, but a turboed Altima would be a pretty unique car. At least here in the states.

I have a altima turbo..custom kit..will make around 320hp when im done. My advice: you have to be mecanically competent to turbo your car. Dont get into it if you dont know what to expect.

there are a few turboed altimas out there. a friend of mine has one that puts down over 300whp. he's selling it to get a 240 for his project. go to nissanclub.com and search the turbo forums. turbonetics makes a direct bolt on kit for the altima. and if you were to use the turbo kit for a 240, some customizing will be needed for all the parts to fit. and the price for the kit is between $3300-$4000 depending on what all you want.
