its a nice sporty looking car with a lot of room inside ,82000 miles . I was so happy to buy this car , but i wish i read or did a search on the web about this car before i bought it, the problem started right when i left the sales lot , not even 20 miles and the car died in the middle of the road , had to tow the car back to them , 1 day later the guy told me its a loose camshaft position sensor plug , and the car was fine after that , next day after i got off the free way , the car died at the light again . i checked the plug and it was tight pluged and the car wont start at all. so i had to tow the car back to the place where i got it from , and after two days he told me that its the same shit (CAM plug) , but after i turned the car on to take it home , a knocking sound start coming from under the hood , its a loud sound as if something is trying to get out of that engine , i told him whats that ? he said its just a bad rod and its not that much serious . this time i took it to the dealer where they checked it out and told me that the engine is messed up with gray oil and alot of metel shavings and the rods are messed up with the Bearings. so i went back to the guy to return the car which i paid for with cash 4,700.00 , and the guy said that he cant return it , its done deal :-( because i test drove the car twice before paying for it , and that if i want he can put a new engine in 2 weeks . now i need some help on what should i do ? FIX THE CAR ? OR GET MY MONEY BACK ? please help

I'm not too sure about that dealer your are dealing with. (no pun intended) A bad rod is a serious thing. :/

When you went on the test drive, did you bring it to a reputable mechanic to inspect it? If so, he should have checked the oil (and all other fluids for that matter).

IMO, you should try and get your money back and buy a different car (and have a mechanic run a "safety check" as my mechanic calls it). Depending on who you ask, Intrepids are really nice cars, just some people tend to have engine troubles with the 2.7L engine. If you can't get your money back, then have them put in a new engine (esp. if at no cost to you) and make sure that it has low miles if its a used engine.

Sorry to hear about your troubles and hope you get it resolved soon!

Your best bet is to let him fix the car if he is willing because you bought the car as is and you have no recourse against him. Always have a used vehicle checked by an inspection company or a at least a mechanic before purchasing.
