Cooling System MyTOY 01-04-2005, 02:45 PM
97 GMC 5.0 - 83,000 Would a cooling system pressure check detect a intake gasket leak? I had it tested when trying to diagnose a mysterious leak. They couldn't find anything on the pressure test but ended up replacing a heater hose coupler that was leaking a little (broke off during repair) and since, the big coolant leak that was puddling underneath back of my oilpan hasn't reappeared but I still always smell it. Right after that repair it lost all its fluid but I flushed and refilled and it mysteriously stopped leaking, as far as I could tell. I flushed it because the coolant looked odd, like maybe they mixed Dex/Green or used some kind of sealant. I don't know. Green is in now. I would like to start putting a couple bucks into the truck but not until I'm sure I don't have intake probs. Already had trans rebuilt and these gaskets seem like the only other real common thing to worry about from what I've been reading. I'll be happy to take on anything else as it comes. Thanks alot. My 96 sierra had the leak and because of weather conditions i was not able to do it myself so it cost me $400 to have it done. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
