I have a 93 Honda accord ex. When I am driving down the road my car. once I get on the interstate its fine. But once i get off the interstate and for some reason only after I get off the interstate. I get to a stop and my engine starts over heating. I can put the car in neutral and rev up the engine and the temp goes back down to normal. ONce I start driving again the car is back to normal temp. I have replaced the thermostat and all the hoses already. Is my problem due to the water pump? Is it due to a fan problem? What can I do to fix this problem?

I have had the same problem with my 91 accord. I tried everything possible and i came to find out that it was the water pump. If it starts leaking water from the bottom of the car then it's definetley the water pump. But first of all check if the radiator is full. Oh and if you do change the water pump you might as well change the timing belt too.

it's was leaking and looked to see where the water was coming from, and I noticed there was a hole in one of the eater hoses. I replaced that hose and now there isnt any leakage to be seen. Is there a specific way to replace the water pump? Do i need to look underneath the car to find water pump? Thanks

also, I have a huge problem with vibration when I get to a stop light. I was told new motor mounts would solve this problem and adjusting the idle throttle. Is this the what I need to do? If so, how do I change my motor mounts?

To get to the water pump you have to look under the car it's under the timing belt.

To change the water pump...

disconnect the battery
drain the cooling system
remove the drivebelts
remove the timing belt (make sure you don't move the gears on the timing cause it's a bitch to get back together)
remove the bolts (remember where the longer bolt goes)
take all the old gasket off
put the new water pump on...

I have a 89 Civic Hatchback and had both of the same problems. My water pump went and I expeirce vibration at stoplights. Don't listen to them telling you its your motor mounts, its not. If it was youd feel the motor vibrate all the time. It is your idle speed. I only expierce the problem when my headlights are on and I am running my heater fan and my stereo. I
