I can't find my Chilton manual and it's driving me crazy...Can anyone tell me why I'm getting heat on the passenger side and cold on the driver's side in all positions for the heater and how to DIY?

Thanks!

Does this car have automatic temp control?

My Lesabre is doing the same thing! It has auto temperature control with passenger side controls. Its a 1994 ltd. and I am slowly working through numerous problems. The air is cooler on the driver side and nothing seems to change that. I also do not get air through the front vents untill the Temperature is set way down then it moves to the front vents (in the Econo position).

No, I have control over the temperature. I had it apart tonight, and three hours later, I'm no further ahead. I has to be a damper somewhere, but I don't relish the thought of tearing it all apart, or worse yet, paying to have someone tear it all apart again only to find that there's nothing they can do.
I left it half apart just in case someone else has any ideas. [It was -50 degrees celsius here today with the wind...I'm happy for the small amount of heat I get, but I'd like some consistency!!]

FWIW, I talked to my local buick dealer and they said maybe it's your heater core...$45 later, it's not...

Still blowing cold, but the temp outside is getting warmer, only -22 celcius today!

I had similar problem in my 93 limited. Located behind the dash board. Is a black box, the heater coil in inside of that. You wanna look on top of the box. you should see a curved rod thats hook to the accutator on top. and a straight Rod on the bottom of the box. MAKE sure these both rods are connected to their both ends. Mine had one just on hooked. That should help. The top is the control for the heater, and the Bottom is the control for the AC.!

I'll have to look into it further, because something is definitely not closing far enough, however, I have had a look at the place you suggested and everything is working properly there...and on mine, I only have one rod/motor controlling all of the flaps near the heater core. Buick told me that there are two varieties and it appears that yours is number two...Thanks anyway for the help!

First of all, you need to make sure that you CAN'T physically move those actuator arms (connected to the rods). They supposed to be very strong, and if you can physically move them with your finger, then it's broken, and replacing it should fix your problem. I had that same problem, and that's what it was. Secondly, if that is not the problem, then it's probably the Programmer (climate control computer). You can get it on GM parts direct for a reasonable price ($150 maybe?).

Hope this helps! kaspr

Everything seems good and tight, but I'm now wondering if there's a way to scope this problem via engine codes ? And I'd like to eliminate as many possibilites as I can before spending a fortune! My evap core is filthy, but that doesn't explain why I'd get heat on the right and cold on the left. [although that's another thing to fix...AC would be nice in the summer!]

I can almost guarantee you it's either the actuators or the programmer. You won't be able to get an engine code. You'll have to get it by accessing the programmer's codes. Since the actuators are not broken, I would guess it's the programmer. I would be checking GM Parts Direct or some junkyards. You can also do a search for this problem, as there are several threads in LeSabre & Park Avenue that pertain to it. Hope this helps!
